Ethan just gave him a look, one that said more than words ever could, then turned and walked back into the building.
Frank couldn’t shake the image of that face he’d just seen. Damn, she really did look a lot like that awful bitch. And from the way she dressed, the way she carried herself, there was no way she was broke.
He glanced up at the skyscraper towering into the clouds, then let out a cold snort. “Fine, I’ll go find her myself. If she doesn’t have the money, I’ll definitely be back.”
Tomorrow, Capital College was starting their wilderness training, just like Capital Med School. After the afternoon’s drills, Lucinda invited her roommates out for a big dinner off campus, and to pick up the last few things they’d need for their trip.
These days, Lucinda was the talk of the campus. In every single event during training, she took first place. She was unstoppable. People whispered about her, saying the richest man’s daughter really was something else.
Lucinda was riding high. She hadn’t felt this proud in ages. It was like she’d become her old self again, the way she was before Lydia came back to the Norwood family. As long as she kept her real identity secret, as long as Lydia wasn’t around, she could shine like this forever.
“Lucinda, the wilderness training sounds so tough. You have to let us be on your team,” one of the girls said.
“Yeah, I heard it’s five people per team for the competition. We want to be with you,” another chimed in.
Lucinda laughed. “Of course. I’ll talk to the instructor, see if we can get grouped together.”
The four of them were in high spirits, chatting and joking as they left campus. They’d just turned onto the street when a middle-aged man appeared out of nowhere. His hair was a mess, his clothes reeked of sweat, and he rushed up to them, calling out to Lucinda, “My daughter!”
The girls jumped back, startled.
Frank was almost giddy, his eyes shining as he stared at Lucinda. “Don’t be scared, sweetheart. I’m your dad!”
He looked her up and down, barely believing this beautiful girl was his own flesh and blood. If he could sell her off to some rich boss, he’d make a fortune.

Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
