Chapter 15 - 15: Holding a Grudge

"What do you want?" Bai Fanglan suddenly laughed, "You're just a crappy caregiver, cleaning up messes in the hospital, and you still want to argue with me? Who gave you the confidence? Believe it or not, with just one word from me, you won't be able to stay in this hospital?"

Aunt Wang's face turned dark at this statement, but she was used to being looked down upon; she held Sun Chan back and advised, "Forget it, making a fuss benefits no one."

Bai Fanglan smiled smugly and turned to leave.

But Sun Chan said, "We're in a new society where everyone is equal, why should I be looked down upon just because I do manual work? Why should people slap me around and threaten me?" Her voice was not loud, but everyone in the ward heard it, and they all looked her way.

Bai Fanglan gritted her teeth, "Alright then, go ahead and file a complaint, I want to see what you can stir up today!"

"Let it go, Sun Chan..."

"Aunt Wang. I never make trouble, nor do I fear it." Sun Chan knew that Aunt Wang cared for her, but today, if she endured this, she wouldn't be able to respect herself, let alone Bai Fanglan.

The middle-aged man who had previously clashed with Bai Fanglan over a medication error remarked, "This woman looks down on everyone with her nose in the air, disrespects people, her medical skills aren't great and even prescribes the wrong medicine, yet doesn't see her own conduct, huh! The others dare not offend anyone, so they remained silent but did not support Bai Fanglan either.

"Did I say anything wrong? Quack doctor, fraud!"

"You... you all..." Bai Fanglan was livid, pointing at Sun Chan, "You dare incite the patients against me? Just wait and see!" She rushed out, but Sun Chan quickly went out and pushed Bai Fanglan aside, leaving first as she knew where the dean's office was from her time in the hospital.

Seeing her really going, Bai Fanglan was a bit shocked and then furious, this woman really dares!

Sun Chan quickly knocked and entered, the dean frowned when he saw her, "What's the matter?"

"Yes, I need to report something to the dean." Sun Chan told him everything Bai Fanglan had done, "Although I'm just a caregiver, I have my dignity and respect, and I can't accept Doctor Bai humiliating me without reason."

"You're spouting nonsense!" Bai Fanglan stormed in angrily.

"Is there some misunderstanding? Doctor Bai, calm down." The dean didn't think the matter was significant and hoped Bai Fanglan would say something nice to resolve it.

Bai Fanglan, spoiled and unaware of tact, stomped and said, "Dean, she only knows how to mess things up for the patients' families behind the scenes, and speaks ill of me in the ward. She brings her gossip from the countryside and now Mingming's parents are against me! Look at her rogue demeanor, just a lowly caregiver, disgusting to look at..."

Sun Chan returned to the ward, and Aunt Wang nervously said, "Sun Chan, if she holds a grudge and doesn't let you work, what will you do?"

Sun Chan smiled, "Don't worry, I'll just do my job. This hospital isn't hers; can she just drive me away? I won't let her insult me for nothing."

Bai Fanglan returned home and cried bitterly, determinedly hating Sun Chan.

She wanted to find her grandpa to have him get Sun Chan expelled through the leadership, but unfortunately, he was away for a conference, so she had to hold off for now.

The next day, the hospital admitted a severely ill patient, originally intended for Sun Chan. Bai Fanglan had kept an eye on this, and upon learning about it, quickly called the colleague, said a few words, and they refused to let Sun Chan take it; thus, the job opportunity vanished.

Aunt Wang found out and advised Sun Chan not to get upset.

Sun Chan smiled, "It's alright, I'm thinking of resting a bit, staying at the hospital I haven't visited any friends."

While confronting Bai Fanglan, she foresaw wearing thin shoes but didn't regret it; reborn, she wouldn't be bullied, no one could trample her dignity. As for work, that would come eventually; Bai Fanglan's capabilities couldn't block everything.
