Chapter 230: Chapter 230 Picking a Fight

Sun Chan said with a smile, "Aren’t I young now? I can do whatever I want. Once I get married, Gu Junming won’t let me fool around anymore. Better enjoy it while I’m not married."

"That’s true." Wang Dan agreed, "I can’t do anything now. It’s so frustrating."

"You’re already lucky. Don’t be ungrateful for the blessings you have."

Wang Dan’s partner came over and kissed her hair, "Sorry, my dear. Let’s go eat."

"Got it." Wang Dan picked up some peanuts with a smile, snacking like a little squirrel as she walked.

Wang Dan’s family, along with Sun Chan and Han Dong, had a meal together, and it was very harmonious.

Han Dong and Wang Dan’s partner were both charismatic and knew how to liven up the atmosphere, while Wang Dan cheerfully stayed close to her mother-in-law, joking and acting sweet, and her mother-in-law was very fond of her.

Watching their interaction, Sun Chan felt inspired. While eating, she thought, who would like a daughter-in-law who’s always down? I should also stay optimistic. With laughter and chatter, even if there are some disputes, things won’t be too unpleasant as long as the surface is handled well.

They wanted Sun Chan to stay, but she refused, saying she had to look after her own stall tomorrow. Han Dong was leaving, so she stayed at the inn. After taking care of Sun Chan, Han Dong left.

Before leaving, they discussed the next day’s clothing prices, "You can’t set the price too low. You know these folks love bargains; even if you give them the lowest price, they’ll still want you to lower it. So start high and gradually lower it."

"Yeah, but I feel like my prices are high enough. I’m selling underwear that costs me a few bucks for over ten."

Han Dong laughed, "You! You’ll never make it as a businessperson. Who worries about the buyer when selling things? Don’t worry; they have a price in mind that they’re willing to bear. If it’s too expensive, they won’t buy it. If they can buy it, they can afford it. Wanting to look good comes with a price."

Sun Chan nodded; that made sense.

"Right, you should find someone. If you also need to go back, we can’t always be at the stall. Someone needs to look after it."

Sun Chan thought for a moment, "How about Wang Shufen?"

"Your big sister?" Han Dong hadn’t met Wang Shufen, but he’d heard about her from Gu Junming. She was divorced and had been living in the village with her son.

"Yeah! She’s very reliable, and she wants her son to go to school in the city."

"That works, talk it over with your older brother. I have to go."

Sun Chan walked him out, "Be careful, it’s dark at night. Don’t get robbed."

Han Dong chuckled, turned around, and left. The street outside was cool, the air fragrant with flowers. Walking down the street, Han Dong was in a great mood, though he refused to ponder why he was so happy.

Sun Chan saw him off, washed up, and lay in bed thinking about her mother-in-law, frowning slightly. Would Wang Guihua like her? Probably not, right? Thankfully, she’s not her biological mother, and Gu Junming doesn’t let her suck up to her, which is alright. But there might be trouble during the wedding. With these thoughts, she turned over and fell asleep.

Yang Hongying’s face turned red. What’s up with him lately? He never seems to tire.

Their atmosphere was just right, when someone knocked at the door. Gu Juntao went to open it and saw his mother. He secretly thought this was bad, wondering if she came to settle scores.

Not wanting to make things awkward, he smiled and called out, "Mom, you’re here!" Then he quickly turned back, "Hong Ying, my mom’s here!"

"Humph! What kind of daughter-in-law lets the husband open the door while she eats so comfortably when there are guests?"

"I was closer to the door, so I opened it. Mom, have you eaten? Come have some more." Gu Juntao said with a smile.

Wang Guihua walked in with a sullen look, seeing how simple their meal was and feeling even more displeased. When had her son been eating so plainly? There were even pickles!

"Yang Hongying, it’s understandable that my son is busy with work and doesn’t have time for lavish meals. But how come even on a day off, you still cook so simply? Juntao is the main pillar of the family. How can you be so irresponsible? Is our family so poor there’s no meat left?"

Yang Hongying bit her lip and said nothing. She had been trying to please her mother-in-law, but after some time, realized nothing she did could win her favor, so she just gave up, not wanting to say another word.

Gu Juntao said, "It’s just breakfast, who eats meat in the morning? I couldn’t stomach it either. We’re making dumplings for lunch."

"Dumplings? Can Yang Hongying roll out the dough? Can she knead it? Isn’t it all you? Before you got married, you were raised gently. Marriage is for someone to take care of you, but look at this, now you’re taking care of her!" Wang Guihua looked around, "Just look at those curtains, they’re dirty. Aren’t you going to take them down to wash? And the leather shoes need polishing. Tsk! You two are a mess. What are you thinking?"
