Sun Chan’s exams were relatively smooth on this side, even though her ears hurt a bit, she had a couple of nosebleeds, and her head ached slightly. Still, she gritted her teeth and persevered. She tried her best to empty her mind, not thinking about the scene of her father slapping her, focusing all her energy on that test paper.
It wasn’t easy to concentrate fully. Sun Chan took a deep breath, emptying everything. She finally finished writing the paper and handed it in. Only then did she notice Gu Junming standing at the door waiting for her.
Sun Chan felt much more at ease, waved at him with a smile, and quickly ran over.
Gu Junming said anxiously, "Don’t run, what if your nose starts bleeding again?"
"It’s fine," Sun Chan said with a smile. "I’m not made of paper, you know. It’s already better."
Gu Junming saw her face was still a bit swollen, pale, and her eyes were a little bloodshot, looking much more haggard than in the morning. He felt deeply sorry. It was imaginable how much of a blow she had received at that time.
But Gu Junming didn’t want Sun Chan to feel uncomfortable, so he acted as if he hadn’t seen anything, holding her hand, "Looks like the exam went well?"
"Yes, I feel like I could do all those questions."
"Then let’s go home and study well. Prepare for tomorrow’s exam," Gu Junming said with a smile. "Let’s buy something delicious to eat tonight."
Sun Chan said with a smile, "I want to eat fried chicken cutlets from outside. Can we buy some to eat?"
"No, eat it after exams. In such hot weather, cooked food might not be clean," Gu Junming said with a smile, persuading, "Let’s eat regular meals for these two days. After the exams, you can eat whatever you want."
Seeing the slightly regretful expression on Sun Chan’s face, he patted Sun Chan’s back, "Think of our elder sister! She’s eagerly waiting for you to come home for dinner. She’ll be disappointed if you eat something else."
"Alright then." She nodded with a smile; "I’ll listen to you."
The two didn’t mention the events of today again, and Gu Junming didn’t tell Sun Chan that he had made a phone call. Everything would be discussed after the exams. When they got home, they indeed saw Wang Shufen had prepared a table full of delicious dishes waiting for her.
"I made stuffed eggplant, cucumber soup, and cold dishes. Try them!" Wang Shufen took off her apron.
"Alright, thank you, big sister. I’m starving," she said with a smile and went to wash her hands, "Serve me a big bowl of rice."
"No problem!" Wang Shufen smiled and went to serve the rice.
The family sat around the table, eating and chatting. Wang Shufen naturally noticed the injuries on Sun Chan’s face. Just as she was about to speak, Gu Junming stopped her with a look.
Wang Shufen knew there was something, so she didn’t say anything. While tidying up the dishes, she pulled Gu Junming aside and asked.
Gu Junming explained briefly.
Wang Shufen frowned, "That’s really unreasonable! I thought people in the city would be better, but I didn’t expect there would be such bullies! How disgraceful for a military family! Is this how one should act as a couple?"
"Let’s not discuss this with Sun Chan, her exams are more important."
"Got it," Wang Shufen said with a smile. "You don’t have to stay with me, go check if there’s anything Sun Chan doesn’t understand? She must pass."
Yang Yun sobbed, "Dad, you doubt me too?"
"Yun’er..."
"Mom doubts me, Grandpa doubts me, now you too?"
Yang Xiong sneered, "Yang Yun, you still don’t admit it? Don’t forget I was a scout for seven years! Do you think you can deceive me with such petty tricks? You thought you handled it beautifully, but I don’t believe it. In such a big courtyard, is it that difficult to find a witness? I’ve been holding back only because I don’t want to bring disgrace to our family! You don’t need to associate with Sun Chan anymore, your mind is so malicious, I’m worried you’ll harm Sun Chan. She’s been through enough already, what if you cause her death?"
Yang Yun couldn’t accept her sister, selfishness and self-centeredness were minor issues, but coming up with such a plan to ensure Sun Chan didn’t fare well, instigating their father to hit someone, and later on still denying everything even when exposed, without any guilt.
Such a granddaughter was unacceptable to Yang Xiong. How malicious the mindset!
Yang Yun looked up at her father, intending to argue a bit, but when she saw her grandpa’s sharp eyes, as if seeing through her thoughts, she dared not utter another word.
She made up her mind, no matter what you say, I won’t admit it. In time, I’ll surely be able to conceal it from my father.
As long as Dad genuinely cares for me, I can continue living a good life in the Yang Family.
Yang Xiong waved his hand, "Alright, you can go back. I’m tired; we don’t need to meet often in the future. I couldn’t educate you, so I might as well not bother."
"Dad. I can’t just go back like this, Zhao Jieyun is angry now, and unwilling to stay at home anymore, please help me, after all, it’s the Liao Family."
