Rebirth: Solely Cherished by the Devoted Commander novel Chapter 420

Chapter 420: Chapter 446 Preparing the New Store

Sun Chan didn’t like to hear such flattery and smiled faintly, "Even though I’m young, I’m married, so I know how to interact with others. It’s nice of everyone to tell me this out of concern. I’ll pay more attention in the future. Later, I’ll tell Gu Junming not to let Han Donglai pick me up anymore. To avoid any unpleasant gossip and ruining anyone’s reputation."

"It’s not that we don’t trust you. It’s not really a big deal. No need to bring it up." The women were anxious when they heard she might complain.

"Haha, that’s for the best then. Do you have anything else to ask?" Sun Chan made it clear she didn’t want to continue the conversation with her.

"Nothing else, you can sit down." The woman smiled and sat back down.

Sun Chan continued reviewing the manuscript, ignoring them.

When the woman returned, someone asked her what Sun Chan was doing: "Is it bookkeeping?"

"Doesn’t look like it. It seemed all flashy, like drawings."

"Is she really drawing?"

One woman sneered, "She’s really got the leisure for this, while we’re just managing to eat. She’s living that kind of life, really something. Spending money on these useless things."

"Exactly, she’s living that so-called bourgeois... lifestyle!"

Everyone chatted with a mix of jealousy and mockery, but their voices were kept low.

Sun Chan didn’t care at all. After drawing, she noticed a woman sitting behind her, around twenty-eight or twenty-nine years old. She looked quite nice and was dressed very fashionably. She hadn’t participated in the conversation and was calmly looking out the window.

Sun Chan thought to herself, there are people like her who aren’t good at socializing.

Who is that girl?

The woman seemed to notice someone watching her and turned around to smile at Sun Chan.

Sun Chan quickly smiled back, and they both remained silent.

When they got off the vehicle, the woman specifically waited for Sun Chan and said to her, "Don’t mind them. These people are from the village, following the troops with no jobs, and are idle all day, gossiping. At first, I used to be mad, but I got used to it. I just sit over there, and whoever talks to me, I ignore them. They say behind my back that I’m hard of hearing. Not hearing them. Even if I hear them, I wouldn’t get mad and interact with them."

Sun Chan couldn’t help but laugh, "Is that so!"

"Yes." The woman laughed, "My name is Zheng Lijuan, my husband is Tian Jian, he’s an instructor under your husband, and I work at the Xinhua Bookstore. Come find me when you have time; I’ll get you some books."

Sun Chan quickly agreed, and after walking a while, they parted at the intersection. Sun Chan felt good talking to her. Getting caught up in everyday trivial matters wouldn’t be pleasant either.

She didn’t have time to dwell on it. Once she got to the shop, she got busy with many tasks to handle. The shop was scheduled to get glass installed today, and employees were also discussing clothing styles and issues related to garment production with her.

Sun Chan was so busy her head was spinning, not even having time for lunch.

It wasn’t until past three in the afternoon that Han Dong had the factory staff bring her a box of dumplings, reminding Sun Chan that she forgot to eat.

She thanked them, saw them off, and then sat down in the shop with her lunchbox.

With the employees working in the back workshop, she was the only one left, finally getting some peace and quiet.

Sun Chan apologized, "I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to, just lost track of time."

"No problem, it’s raining so hard. Even if you wanted to come back, I wouldn’t allow it. What if you catch a cold? Wait there." Gu Junming hung up the phone.

Sun Chan hung up the phone, stood by the window watching the people hurrying by, some wearing really nice clothes.

As she watched, she suddenly saw someone running over with a bag held over their head, which surprised Sun Chan. By then, the person had already pushed the door open and entered.

"Do you have an umbrella? I’d like to buy one!" The woman kept wiping water off herself with a handkerchief.

Sun Chan smiled, "I don’t sell umbrellas here; the shop hasn’t opened yet."

It was then she realized she recognized this person, Bai Fanglan.

She didn’t recognize her at first because Bai Fanglan had changed quite a bit, with her previously straight black hair now permed into curls. She wore a very nice outfit, and carried a good handbag. Sun Chan, now knowledgeable, knew this ensemble must have cost at least two to three hundred yuan. She figured Bai Fanglan and her husband wouldn’t have that much money.

Bai Fanglan looked a bit embarrassed and then smiled, "You’ve got your own business now?"

Sun Chan replied, "No, I’m just helping out here."

"Hmm, is the boss... Han Dong?" Bai Fanglan thought to herself, I knew you didn’t have it in you.

"Yes, it’s him." Sun Chan smiled softly, "You can wait here for a bit. My mom will come over soon, and she can give you a ride, or you could call someone to pick you up?"
