Rebirth: Solely Cherished by the Devoted Commander novel Chapter 476

Chapter 476: Chapter 503 Pregnant

As they arrived near the Wang Family residence, Sun Chan and Gu Junming both burst into smiles.

The house had been refurbished and repainted, the gate replaced with a large iron gate, and the walls rebuilt with quality bricks. This was all thanks to the generous amounts of money Gu Junming usually sent over, and the couple had little to spend, so they thought since the son was coming home, they should tidy up. Now the Wang Family was doing quite well in the village, giving their child some face.

Such a gate and house were quite distinctive in the village.

As Sun Chan and Gu Junming entered the house, Mrs. Wang pulled them aside, exchanging pleasantries for quite some time. Father Wang went outside to boil water and prepare a meal.

They were both quite considerate, and no one mentioned whether Sun Chan might be pregnant. In the countryside, children are usually the hottest topic, but they refrained from bringing it up to avoid pressuring Sun Chan.

The couple was tired from the train ride, had some noodles made by Mrs. Wang, and went to bed early, leaving the others to sort things outside.

Mrs. Wang said, "Let’s slaughter a chicken."

"Just thought of it now?" Father Wang was a bit anxious, "How could you be so forgetful? Will it be ready in time? Our countryside chicken doesn’t exactly cook fast."

"It’ll be fine! I was just worried that it wouldn’t be fresh and tasty by then. It’s not New Year’s until tomorrow. Pre-cook it today, and add some vermicelli when it’s time."

"Alright, let’s do it, and maybe make some sticky bean buns too. I’m not sure if she’d like them."

"She should like them, as she’s also from the village. If not, there are buns and dumplings. Last time I noticed she seemed to like vegetarian fillings, so I’ll prepare some more for her," Mrs. Wang said with a smile.

Father Wang nodded, "That’s a fine girl, our Mingzi is fortunate."

Mrs. Wang replied, "Indeed, we must treat her well."

When Sun Chan woke up, it was already the next morning. She felt warm beneath her; the quilts Mrs. Wang gave them were brand new, thick and soft, clearly made of new cotton.

And they had a fragrant scent, inducing a deeper sleep the more one lay under them.

Gu Junming was already up, outside chopping wood with an axe and chatting with his father. Father Wang cheerfully piled the logs aside. They were talking about military life, a fond memory despite having left the army for many years.

Sun Chan sat up, intending to get dressed.

At that moment, Mrs. Wang came over with a bowl of milk, "Here, drink it while it’s hot, then get up."

"Auntie... no, Mom, it’s not necessary..." Changing to call her "Mom" was embarrassing, Sun Chan’s face blushed.

Mrs. Wang chuckled, "Drink it, it’s from Old Song Family in the village. Your father and I buy it daily; if we can’t finish it, we make sure to drink it because we know it’s good for our health, and we must take care of ourselves to enjoy life."

Sun Chan couldn’t refuse, taking it to drink. It was rich and aromatic, and she thought their lives had improved a lot since her first visit.

Looking around at the furnishings, she found them very nice. The couple used to worry about Wang Shufen and her son, so they wouldn’t spend money even if they had it, but now, with their daughter’s future secured, they dared to spend.

After drinking the milk, Sun Chan got up to tidy the bed, but suddenly felt a wave of nausea in her stomach, retching as if the milk would come back up, her throat feeling uncomfortable.

Mrs. Wang quickly asked, "What’s wrong, is the milk bad?"

Sun Chan wanted to explain, but then her stomach churned again.

"No, nothing. I’ll just go to the bathroom." Sun Chan quickly ran outside, startling both Gu Junming and Father Wang who were chopping wood. What happened?
