Yang Yun grabbed his wrist, "Sorry for the trouble."
"It’s okay. As long as you care about me, everything I do is worth it."
The two of them were lost in their own world, while Yang Dongfeng and his wife frowned silently, and Sun Chan didn’t want to look at all, keeping her head down.
Meanwhile, Fang Guanghui gave Song Tao a glance, signaling that he could take action now.
Song Tao hurriedly took out a bottle of liquor from his bag and handed it to Wu Qiong, "Pour this for everyone; it’s imported. A very good drink. Pour a glass for your father yourself, too."
"Oh, okay." Wu Qiong nodded and started pouring. With only a few people at the table, it didn’t take her long to fill everyone’s glass.
Song Tao laughed, "This is wine that Wu Qiong bought herself! It’s her treat. Let’s have some."
Wu Qiong was stunned for a moment, then smiled and nodded, "Yes, I bought it. Give it a try."
Her boyfriend was giving her face, so she naturally had to make a good impression.
Fang Guanghui and Yang Yun picked up their glasses, and Fang Guanghui whispered, "Let’s drink it down in one go."
"Alright." She smiled and raised her glass.
Yang Dongfeng and his wife were in no mood to drink, Wu Dafu wore a sullen face and didn’t drink either, entirely dismissing Song Tao’s little tricks. His fiancée, Wang Xia, followed his every move and also didn’t drink.
Sun Chan was pregnant and definitely couldn’t drink, so more than half the table didn’t touch their glasses.
Only Yang Yun and Wu Qiong drank generously.
Song Tao was really on edge this time; Wu Dafu wouldn’t drink? That can’t happen!
He quickly nudged Wu Qiong, "Go toast your father."
Wu Qiong didn’t want to face the bad atmosphere, but her boyfriend kept urging her, so she had no choice but to go over.
She walked to her father with a glass in hand, "Dad, I know I’ve gone a bit too far in some things, but I really mean no harm. Can you forgive me, please?"
Wu Dafu looked at Wu Qiong holding the glass, eyes misting as she gazed at a distant figure, feeling even more aggravated.
He replied lightly, "I’ll drink if I want, and if I don’t, I won’t. Are you trying to force me to drink?"
"Dad, I’m not... Just drink it, please. Consider it doing me a favor." Wu Qiong softened her tone a bit, but Wu Dafu got even angrier, seeing it as merely trying to please her man!
"You’re so obedient to your boyfriend’s every command!"
Though they weren’t sitting together, Wu Dafu was very aware of their interactions.
In the past, no matter what he wanted his daughter to do, it was always difficult. Be it in her best interest or not, he’d have to coax and beg, and it still wasn’t guaranteed she’d listen.
Yet, all it took was one look from this guy, and Wu Qiong was following orders! Just how much of a failure was he as a father? How worthless was his daughter?
So he decided not to drink at all! Clenching his fists in silent rage, the atmosphere grew tense.
Fang Guanghui frowned, incessantly urging Song Tao, who nervously went over and patted Wu Qiong’s back, "Forget it."
But Wu Qiong pushed his hand away, "I don’t care. I must make him drink! Dad, if you really care about me and love me, then drink this."
Wu Dafu glared at her without saying a word.
Wang Xia commented, "Your daughter is still standing there."
"Let her stand! I won’t drink it."
"Of course." Song Tao tightened his grip on Wu Qiong’s hand, preventing her from saying anything rash. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Wu Qiong felt his cold fingers and thought, he’s really good to me.
Sun Chan, however, felt something was off. Earlier, things were so affectionate, and now they were breaking up. Why were they so insistent on making Wu Dafu drink?
And Sun Chan also noticed that Wu Dafu and Fang Guanghui hadn’t drunk any themselves; although they were the noisiest, they hadn’t drunk.
Could there be something wrong with the drink?
A flash of realization hit her just as Wu Dafu was about to drink, and Sun Chan shouted loudly, "Don’t drink it!"
Wu Dafu was startled, and the glass slipped from his hand to the floor, spilling its contents everywhere.
Fang Guanghui frowned silently, thinking, it’s a failure. Seems I’ll have to find a way to distance this matter from myself.
Wu Qiong shouted angrily, "Why are you interfering? I knew you had no good intentions. Are you afraid I’ll reconcile with Dad? I say you are..." she stopped mid-sentence, suddenly clutching her stomach with a pained expression on her face.
"What’s wrong?" Wu Dafu, seeing his daughter’s unusual expression, hurriedly grabbed her.
"My stomach hurts..." she managed to say before collapsing into her seat, unable to open her eyes, her forehead covered in cold sweat. Everyone stood up.
"What’s going on?"
At the same time, on the other side, Yang Yun also clutched her stomach, feeling like her chest was burning.
"It hurts... my stomach hurts too!"
Sun Chan trembled as she said, "There’s something wrong with the wine! Only two people drank it!"
