Chapter 21: He will treat you very well

Ella’s eyes narrowed. She watched as the car disappeared from her view, and then she ran in the opposite direction.

No matter what, being spotted with Max at this time would take all her efforts stumbling.

A black car suddenly blocked her view.

’’Miss Yu, please come with us!"

At one glance, Ella knew that these were Adrian’s people. No one else would have the authority to act this rampantly on Adrian’s property.

Knowing that she would have no way out, she entered the car with various thoughts running in her head.

When Ella arrived at the Eve Mansion, she did not see Adrian. The mansion had descended into an eerie darkness.

She was locked in her room.

She fell in a momentary daze but the sound of lock sent a shiver down her body. She snapped back to her senses.

Her legs moved on their own and she rushed to the door, knocking it violently.

’’Wait... don’t lock...’’

Ella clutched her chest that had started twisting painfully. When she looked around, she was greeted by the sight of the dark room she had left for her morning run.

She instantly rushed up inside and desperately turned all the lights on.

She opened the blinds, brightening up the room.

And a hint of relief temporarily crept in her body.

She knew what this was. This situation was entirely under her control in this life even though it had panned out differently in her previous life.

Right, I am in control here.

But even as she repeated those words again and again, the sight of that locked door invoked terror in her heart.

That dark chamber. The endless squeaks of those mice which seemed to survive on her flesh. The pain. The blood.

’’No... no...’’

Ella slumped on the floor and clutched her forehead, ’’No!"

When she looked up, the bright room seemed to have turned pitch black. Her chest heaved and she extended her hand in front of her eyes but all she could see was a vast expanse of darkness.

The lavishly organized study was in ruins at the moment.

In the middle of the damaged place, Adrian sat on the chair.

The blood on his hands had dried and his face carried any trace of emotion.

You promised things have changed now.

You assured me you will no longer run from me.

I trusted you.

But you still ran back to him.

On the screen popped up a visual of Ella walking out of the mansion in her jogging attire. A beautiful and bright smile on her face as she looked up at the vast sky and twirled around it.

Ji Yan expected the man to skip through to the important part of the video but he had underestimated Adrian’s obsession with Ella.

He patiently listened to her grumbling nonsense to herself as she ran and panted at every point.

Even the part where Ella fell asleep was watched by Adrian with keen attention, his gaze taking in every action, every breath or every snore of the girl as if it was a life saving elixir to him.

The man went through every second of the hours-long footage until finally the crucial point came.

Max’s car pulled up at the estate entrance but upon seeing him, Ella’s face did not show the slightest hint of excitement.

Rather, she grabbed the small puppy and ran over to hide as if her life depended on it. She totally avoided the man!

When their dispatched black car stopped, she unquestioningly got in and returned to the mansion.

Since Ji Yan had already organized the footage, the view changes to the little garden in the mansion.

Ella stepped out of the car with the small brown puppy cradled in her arms. She put the puppy down on the threshold but the moment she stepped forward, the puppy clung to her foot.

’’Wait here...’’ The girl knelt in front of the puppy and rubbed its head, ’’I hadn’t noticed before but you seem to be injured everywhere. I will get you treated soon, okay...?"

The puppy bit onto her pants as if reluctant to let go of her.

The girl’s soft laughter reverberated in the place, ’’Since I found you in the estate premises, it must be fate. I will convince him into taking you in and then the both of us will raise you together!"

She paused and stroked the whimpering puppy assuringly, ’’Don’t worry! He looks tough but he is very kind. He will treat you well!" Her eyes glimmered as she added in a softer voice before entering the mansion.

The screen turned black.
