Ronan walked around the car and entered the driver’s seat.
Ruby glanced at the man while he tapped away on his phone, his expression solemn.
’Is he texting his girlfriend?’ Her thought process startled her for a moment.
And suddenly, the visual of him dancing with that beautiful woman flashed through her mind.
A strange ache pressed behind her heart, making Ruby gasp. She pressed her fingers on her chest.
Suddenly, warm fingers pressed by the side of her neck..
Ruby froze.
"Your pulse seems fine. Are you feeling uncomfortable somewhere?" Ronan frowned, his graze trailing downwards, "Is it the chest?"
’Pak’
Ruby slapped his hand away the moment he reached towards her chest.
Ronan looked at her with a helpless gaze.
"I am fine. Drive."
Ronan was far from convinced, "Just let me know if you feel uncomfortable somewhere, okay?"
She paused for a moment before nodding.
After a long time, Ronan pulled up in front of a grand apartment building, "Here we are."
Once Ruby alighted the car, she turned around to look at Ronan, "Thank you. You can leave now."
Ronan’s eyes narrowed, "Do you think I would be staying here to be an annoyance?" He turned the car and left in the blink of an eye.
The light in Ruby’s eyes dimmed but after a while, she turned around and made her way to Ella’s flat.
After rummaging through her purse, she pulled out the keys that Ella had given her before and unlocked the door.
Ruby walked off to the window that faced the main street but she found the road empty.
’He really left...’
Massaging her shoulders, she walked off to the couch and laid down on it. The event of the entire day played in her mind, one by one, until her eyes closed.
...
’Ringgggg’
Ruby was awakened by the sound of the doorbell. When she checked the time, it was past 8 am. She immediately fixed her appearance and got up from the couch.
The moment Ruby opened the door, a carrot nearly stabbed into her eye.
"Ah, step aside, step aside,. Ruby. This is too heavy!" Ella whined.
Ruby immediately took the grocery bag from her hand, "You... What is this..."
While Ruby spoke, she reached out to close the door but at this moment, a beautiful white dresser came to her view.
Ruby froze when she saw who carried it inside.
"Baby, there... there... Place it there!" Ella immediately abandoned her friend and rushed over to her man, eyes sparkling like stars as she looked at his muscles that were bulging through his shirt.
The hint of darkness in the bottom of Adrian’s eyes was immediately replaced with something akin to satisfaction when he saw her worshipping gaze.
"Eh, the weather was so good that I caught a doctor outside the apartment!" A bubbly voice resounded in the place and everybody turned to look in the direction of the door.
Kade sauntered in. One of his hands was hooked around Ronan’s hand. On the other hand, he carried a coffee maker.
"I got him to bring that knowing how much you need your coffee and I didn’t have one of these here..." Ella looked at Ronan who looked sleep-deprived, "As for that... I have no hand in it."
Ruby stood there in a daze for a long time before she took the coffee maker from Kade and placed it down, "Thank you."
"My pleasure," Kade grinned, giving her a playful wink.
Witnessing this small exchange, Ronan pulled his hand out of Kade’s grip and mumbled under his breath, "Ungrateful woman..."
"Hmm? Did you say something?" Kade blinked at him, "Oh, by the way, you still haven’t answered me. Why were you sleeping in your car in that secretive spot? If I didn’t recognize your car right away, I would have missed out on you..."
"Who asked you to be so sharp, Third Young Master?" Ronan thinned his lips into a smile.
Kade rubbed his neck, "Come on, Knight, you will make me shy like this..."
Ronan’s lips twitched. This caveman was actually his best friend!
