Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 111

By the time night fell, Maeve's studio was already empty, lit only by a few emergency lights. It was so quiet that one could hear a pin drop.

All of a sudden, the fire exit door creaked softly, opening just a crack from being pushed by someone outside.

A small, slender figure peeked in cautiously. The woman was dressed in a drab gray janitor uniform. Her cap sat so low on her head that it obscured half her face.

She glanced around warily. Only when she made sure that the corridor was empty did she scurry in like a slippery rat before quietly closing the door behind her.

Without pausing, she headed straight for the room at the end of the corridor. That room was the dressing room where all the gowns were kept.

During the day, Amelia had personally locked the white gown inside, making sure to tell everyone not to go near it.

Stopping at the door, Lillian Clements rummaged through her pocket for a set of keys. She tried a few before quickly finding the correct one. As a soft click sounded, the door opened.

She squeezed inside and immediately closed the door behind her.

The room was pitch-black. Under the moonlight, a mannequin stood in the middle of the room, covered by a huge garment bag. That was her target for the night.

As her breath quickened, her heart pounded in her chest. She walked up to the mannequin and, with trembling fingers, unzipped the garment bag.

The moment the gown was revealed in the moonlight, she froze.

The delicate tulle cascading from the shoulders looked like something straight out of a dream.

Even if she didn't know much about this sort of thing, she could still tell how rare and exceptional the gown was. It was practically a piece of art.

The thought struck her out of nowhere. Was she truly going to destroy something so beautiful?
