**He Knows the Door to My Soul and Who Forgot to Novel 89**

A few days had passed since that chaotic banquet, and I found myself descending the narrow, shadowy staircase that led to the Ashmoor cells. This place, with its oppressive gloom, was one I had rarely ventured to in my five years of residing here.

The air was thick with a musty scent, and the dim light cast eerie shadows on the stone walls. I felt a chill run down my spine. Even during my reign as the Luna of Moonshadow, I had never been fond of places like this. The atmosphere was suffocating, and the way the captive rogues leered at me from their cells made my skin crawl. Their hungry eyes followed my every step, igniting a sense of unease that I couldn’t shake off.

After the banquet debacle, Damon had taken decisive action, arresting Alpha David and bringing him back to Ashmoor for questioning. The young Alpha had been confined to our cells for three long days, while Damon deliberated on what to do with him. The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on my mind; drugging a Luna was not only a serious offense but a potential catalyst for war between our packs if Damon chose to pursue it.

Yet, amidst the turmoil, I felt an overwhelming need to hear David’s side of the story. Why had he targeted me? What had prompted him to slip something into my drink that night? What did he hope to achieve? My mind raced with fragments of our interactions—the way he had spoken to me, the strange familiarity in his tone, as if we shared some unspoken bond.

I had to unravel the mystery behind his actions.

As I approached the cell at the end of the corridor, my heart pounded in my chest. The guard acknowledged my presence with a nod and stepped aside, allowing me to stand before the heavy door that separated us. Inside, I found David perched on a small cot, his head cradled in his hands, a picture of despair.

“Luna,” he exclaimed, rising abruptly, surprise flickering across his features. “I didn’t expect to see you here.”

“I have questions,” I stated firmly, my voice steady despite the turmoil within. “Questions about what transpired at the banquet.”

A frown etched itself onto David’s brow as he processed my words. “I’ve already shared everything I know with Alpha Damon. I don’t understand why I’m being held here.”

“You drugged me,” I asserted, cutting through the tension in the air. “You slipped something into my champagne.”

He blinked in disbelief. “What? No, I didn’t.”

“Don’t lie to me,” I retorted, my voice sharp. “I was perfectly fine until I drank from the glass you handed me. After that, everything became a blur.”

David shook his head vehemently. “Luna Mir—I mean, Natalia, I would never do something like that. Why would I? You’ve been writing to me for weeks, expressing how much you wanted me.”

His words struck me like a bolt of lightning, confusion swirling within me. “What are you talking about? I never wrote to you.”

“Yes, you did.” He stepped closer to the bars, desperation etched on his face. I instinctively took a step back, my heart racing. “You sent me love letters. You confided that you were unhappy in your marriage and that you desired an affair. You said Damon didn’t satisfy you anymore.”

“This is absurd. I never penned any letters,” I shot back, incredulity lacing my tone.
