Liam grabbed Andrea by the arm and shoved her out the bedroom door. "Get the hell out. I'm not arguing with you right now."
His glare shook her to her core, and she swallowed hard. "Liam, what did I do wrong? She's manipulating you. She wants to control you so you'll work for her the rest of your life. Lambert Group is yours. You're back now—shouldn't she step down and give it to you? Can't you see what she's trying to do?”
Liam took a deep breath and said, "If it weren't for her, the company would've gone under a long time ago. Andrea, I said I don't want to argue with you right now."
He turned around and started stripping the soaked bedding off the mattress, then gently lifted Grace and carried her into his own room.
As he helped her swallow the pain meds, her phone buzzed on the nightstand. The screen lit up with the name "Boyfriend".
Liam's eyelids twitched. After helping her take the medicine, his voice was hoarse. "Grace, how are you feeling? I'm sorry. I should've listened to you. I was the one who insisted on keeping Andrea around. Once you get better, you can yell at me all you want."
He rested his head on the edge of the bed and started crying. Grace, barely conscious, reached up and ruffled his hair weakly.
Liam had bought the best painkillers. Within ten minutes, the medicine started kicking in, and Grace felt her head begin to clear.
She took a deep breath and pulled the blanket up higher. "Liam, turn up the temperature a little. It's freezing."
He nodded quickly and ran to adjust the thermostat, his red eyes making him look like a guilty rabbit standing by the bed.
Grace wanted to say something to comfort him, but she was still in too much pain. Her eyes fluttered closed again.
Liam picked up her phone and returned the missed call.
Ed's voice came through. "Weren't you supposed to come see me?"
Liam frowned, irritated. "What do you mean, supposed to come see you? Why don't you come to her? She's not feeling well. She's resting. If you want to see her, I'll send the address. She's going to be at home for the next few days."
Ed's tone shifted immediately. "Is this Liam?"
Liam perked up. So Grace had mentioned him, huh? That made sense—he was her only brother. His voice instantly turned smug.
"Yeah, it's me. I want to meet you face to face. If you're dating my sister, why are you sneaking around like it's a dirty secret? I need to know what you're hiding."
However, the line went dead.
Liam stared at the screen in disbelief. Normally, when meeting a woman's family, a guy would be respectful, even a little nervous. But Ed was nothing but rude.
