Meanwhile, Grace wasn't the type to wait around for disaster.

Now that she knew she wasn't a Lambert by blood and with Liam's trust in her already broken, she no longer had any reason to stay in this family anymore.

That very night, she packed her things into a small suitcase, intending to lay low in another city for a while.

She was well aware of how much Jodie meant to Ethan. Once the truth came to light, he would come after her without hesitation.

However, just as she arrived at the airport and presented her ID, a line of officers approached. They stopped next to her and informed her that a suspicious item had been found in her luggage.

Grace was momentarily too stunned to react. It wasn't until she was escorted to a remote area within the airport that the situation began to register.

She glanced at her suitcase with a frown and said, "There's nothing in there but clothes. Feel free to check again."

However, the officers ignored her. Instead, they repeatedly inspected her ID before securing handcuffs around her wrists.

She continued to protest about her suitcase even as they led her into the car. It wasn't until they arrived at Palm Bay that she finally stopped speaking.

Less than four hours had passed between the time she got home and this rushed departure. She had underestimated how quickly Ethan could move.

The officers escorted her to the entrance hall and left right after that.

The cuffs remained tight around her wrists, leaving her with no choice but to stare at Ethan, who was sitting on the couch.

Her luggage was then brought in and placed next to her feet. Anyone with a clear mind could easily tell that she had tried to flee.

Nevertheless, Grace showed no sign of shame. She simply stood there in silence.

As long as he said nothing, neither would she.

After all, she had no way of knowing what had happened to Jodie after she left the scene.

Her thoughts raced as she tried to calculate every possible move. Then, his voice finally broke through. "So, you were planning to run away? Without bringing your boyfriend?"
