Revenge In Repose (Valerie and Aiden) novel Chapter 64

Chapter 64

Just as Valentina was eagerly awaiting the grand reveal of her perfectlyexecutedplan, someone came barreling toward the crowd in a panic. She squinted in disbelief.

Valerie?she blurted, eyes wide.

She thought, No way. That’s impossible. Juliette’s plan was airtight. There’s no way Valerie could’v

I’ve escaped it.

Valerie’s eyes briefly flicked to Valentina’s stunned expressioncold, unreadable. But then her voice rang out, loud and urgent: Helpsomething terrible just happened!

Heads turned. Her striking figure, even disheveled and breathless in a soaked, stained evening gown, drew immediate attention. Her cheeks were flushed, eyes slightly red, panic etched across her features.

She opened her mouth like she wanted to say more, but the words caught in her throat.

Then a tall figure stepped forward. One sweep of his arm, and Valerie was pulled tightly into a familiar embrace.

Startled, Valerie looked upand when she saw who it was, she clutched his chest like it was a lifeline.

Her voice trembled as she sobbed, Something happenedJuliette… Juliette was dragged into a room by two menII was so scared

Valentina stood frozen, staring at the scene in front of her.

Valerie looked a messdrenched gown, oversized men’s jacket clinging to her frame, clearly shaken.

Yet somehow, even in this state, the two of them together lookedmaddeningly perfect.

Aiden tightened his arms around Valerie, his hand resting gently on her trembling shoulder. His voice was low, warm, patient. It’s okay. I’m here. Don’t be afraid.”

It was a tone Valerie had never heard from him beforenot in this life, not in the last, so gentle, so real.

Her body stiffened. This man is too good at pretendingIf I weren’t careful, I’d almost believe him.

Then he asked, Can you show us where? Do you remember the way?

Valerie nodded, voice tight with fear. Yesthis way. Hurry!

Her urgency was unmistakable. She grabbed Aiden’s hand and led the way, practically running.

Naturally, the crowd followed. Who could resist witnessing a scandal unfold?

Valentina was swept along with the wave of curious onlookers, dread rising like bile.

As Valerie led them, she spoke in broken, breathless bursts. I was soaked by a servermy dress was ruined. I wanted to go home with my husbandbut Juliette stopped me. She said there was a dryer I could use, and led me to that room. As soon as the door opened, someonesomeone dragged her in. I didn’t know what to do

By the time they arrived at the door, her voice was shaking. Aiden’s face had gone dark.

Kick it open,he said coldly.

A guest stepped forward and smashed the door in with one brutal kick. A thunderous bang echoed through the hallway.

Inside, three figures froze in place.

The room was dark, thick with a foul, pungent stench that hit everyone like a wall. Every adult in the hallway instantly understood what that smell meant. The silence was horrified.

There were three people inside. Three.

A woman’s scream ripped through the tension, hoarse and raw from too much screaming. Help! Pleasehelp me!

Someone rushed in and flipped on the lights. Gasps erupted. The

carnage.

The two men flinched and turned away in shameor perhaps fear of what they had just been caught doing.

Valerie stood there, shellshocked. Her lips trembled as her eyes welled with tears, her hands flying to her mouth. Juliette

Aiden stepped forward, shielding her. Don’t look,he said quietly, pressing her face into his chest.

Juliette, barely conscious, was crawling toward the door, her broken voice rasping, Helpplease

Someone in the crowd turned away, hand over her mouth. This is disgusting

Poor girlshe was actually really pretty

Isn’t that my uncle’s son? What the hell?!

Everett’s face turned ashen the moment he recognized the two men.

Drag them out of thereNOW!he roared.

Valentina covered her mouth, completely stunned. This wasn’t supposed to happen. It was supposed to be Valerie in there. Not Juliette. How did everything go so wrong?
