No wonder Emily and Debby held her in such contempt.
Seeing Anastasia’s obedient demeanor, Emily’s affection for her grew. Suddenly, she remembered something. “By the way, you’re from Fairhaven. Do you know of the other Lancaster family there?”
Anastasia paused. “Aaron’s family?”
“Yes! That’s them. They have a son named Aaron.” Emily chuckled. “We heard a while ago that someone put that family in their place. Your Aunt Debby has been wanting to thank whoever did it. We had no idea it was you until your grandmother told us!”
Debby offered Anastasia a warm, grateful smile.
Now it all made sense. That was why Debby had been so kind to her from the very beginning.
After chatting for a while longer, Anastasia saw that it was still early and Harrison likely wouldn’t be back for some time. She decided to go out. Now that she was in Riverton, it was time to visit her teacher. Though they hadn't met in this life, he had already helped her immensely.
“Are you heading out for a bit, Ana?” Emily asked kindly. “You’re not familiar with Riverton. Would you like me to go with you?”
Anastasia smiled and shook her head. “No, thank you, Aunt Emily. I’m going to see a friend.”
Hearing this, Emily politely dropped the subject.
Hearing Bruno dismiss them, George couldn't help but ask, "Who is this important guest that has you so excited?"
Bruno clasped his hands behind his back, his voice filled with pride. "A true medical genius!"
Queena had been hailed as a prodigy ever since she came into the public eye, showered with admiration and praise. Even George was immensely proud of her. To be rejected as a disciple time and again, only to hear Bruno praise someone else as a “true medical genius” right in front of her, as if her own reputation meant nothing, stung her pride.
She offered a polite, humble smile. “I wonder who Mr. Austin is referring to? I believe I know most of the rising talents in our field. Who could it be that has earned such high praise from you?”
