Revenge is My Love Language novel Chapter 670

Bruno just smiled and waved a dismissive hand. “That’s where you’re mistaken. The person coming today is someone you definitely don’t know.”

His comment only fueled Queena’s indignation. A peer in her field that she didn’t know? Impossible.

“Well, now I’m quite curious. Would it be possible for us to stay and meet this esteemed guest of yours?”

“Perhaps another time,” Bruno said politely. “My guest is very private and may not wish to meet strangers. I will ask her, and if she agrees, I can introduce you later.”

Queena could only express her regret, but a seed of resentment had been planted. Bruno had repeatedly refused her apprenticeship and seemed unimpressed by her reputation as a prodigy, yet he held this other person in such high regard. The repeated rejections and this latest slight festered, and by the time she and George left the Austin residence, her expression had soured.

George, aware of his student’s pride and feeling for her, tried to comfort her. “Some genius. Is there really anyone in the younger generation more brilliant than you? I think Bruno was just making up an excuse to get us to leave. Don’t let it get to you.”

His words made sense to Queena, but the sting of failure after so many attempts left her feeling frustrated and angry.

“Then what will it take for him to accept me? I know my skills are second to none. Am I still not worthy of being his disciple?”

“If you’re not worthy, then who is?” George said reassuringly. “You have no reason to doubt yourself; your talent is unmatched. I suspect Bruno has other reasons for his refusal. We’ll just have to keep trying.”

His encouragement lifted Queena’s spirits somewhat.

A flicker of contempt crossed Queena’s face.

After experiencing the world of Riverton, she now saw Fairhaven as nothing more than a provincial backwater. But to someone like Anastasia, who had never seen anything better, it probably felt like the height of luxury. A surge of superiority washed over her.

“Speaking of Anastasia,” she said with a light, mocking tone, “you remember her, don’t you, Professor? You taught her for a while too. Yesterday, my parents mentioned that she’s managed to build up a reputation as some kind of ‘genius’ in a place like Fairhaven.”

George’s face tightened in disgust. “I know exactly what her skill level is. If she had an ounce of talent, I never would have given up on her. A genius? How dare she use that word!”

He shook his head, sneering. “Let’s just hope no one actually believes her. If she ever tries to treat a real patient, there’s no telling how many innocent people she’ll harm.”
