Harrison’s heart melted at her antics. He coaxed her, “I’ll be back this afternoon. It won’t be long. I might even be able to pick you up on the way home.”

That made her happy. She looked up and kissed him on the chin. “I’m going in then!”

“Go on.”

Anastasia got out of the car and walked through the main gates of the Global Harmony Medical Institute. When she looked back, the car was still parked there, Harrison still watching her from inside.

A warm feeling suddenly swelled in her heart. She smiled brightly, waved at him, and then went inside.

There were quite a few people taking the assessment today, but not many were in her situation.

She was here early because of Mr. Lockwood’s recommendation. Most of the others were either candidates selected annually from the various branches of the Institute, or they were already at headquarters but had unsatisfactory results and were taking one last assessment.

If this latter group failed again, they would be sent back to their respective branches.

As for Anastasia, without Mr. Lockwood’s letter of recommendation, she would have had to stay at the Fairhaven branch for at least two more years before becoming eligible for a promotion, according to the rules.

Following the instructions on her pre-printed admission ticket, Anastasia found her examination room, sat down, and calmly waited for the test to begin.
