Chapter 308
Chapter 308
Emily didn’t feel even a shred of sympathy-in fact, she couldn’t help but find it laughable. She never thought she’d see the day Lucas would badmouth Lydia.
She sneered. “Lucas, if I killed you one day and just said sorry, would you be able to forgive me?”
Lucas was stunned for a moment. He didn’t understand why Emily would say something like that.
He said, “I never wanted to hurt you. Even when I was fooled by Lydia, at most I just said some harsh words to you-I never once laid a hand on you.
“I really know I was wrong, Emily. Please, just forgive me. Even if you could just give me one chance to make it up to you, is that okay?”
Emily’s lips curled into a cold, distant smile, and she said, “Lucas, ever since the day you sent me to St. Gabriel Reform Academy, there’s no way things can ever go back to how they were. I’ll never forgive you.”
She thought, ‘If I could just forgive him because of a few apologies, then how would I be any different from killing the part of myself that fought so hard to survive St. Gabriel Reform Academy?’
Lucas felt like his heart was being crushed in someone’s fist, and the ache was so sharp it brought tears to his eyes. He said, “I really know I was wrong. I know you’d never push Lydia down the stairs.
“There had to be some misunderstanding back then. And I know now-it was you who saved me on Lightning Valley. I know everything now. Emily, please, I’m begging you here.”
Emily snapped, “You really think I still care about any of that? Whether it was pushing Lydia down the stairs or saving you on Lightning Valley, I’ve explained it to you over and over. You were the one who never believed me.
“At this point, do you honestly think I care whether you know the truth or not?”
