Chapter 327
Chapter 327
When Emily saw Vincent, her already cold face fell completely. Seeing her reaction, Lucas’s heart skipped a beat, and he quickly explained, “I didn’t invite him. He insisted on coming. I couldn’t stop him.”
Lucas hadn’t tried to stop Vincent, but that didn’t stop him from quickly washing his hands of Vincent. After finally getting Emily to agree to meet him, Lucas couldn’t risk losing the chance to see her again because of Vincent.
Vincent knew that Lucas had been acting like he’d lost his mind lately, so he didn’t mind that. He turned to Emily, his brows furrowed in disapproval. “I don’t know what tricks you used to get Lucas to pick on Lydia, but you’d better stop.”
As he finished speaking, a flash of annoyance crossed Vincent’s mind. That wasn’t what he’d meant to say, but every time he ran into Emily because of Lydia, he always ended up losing his cool.
Before Emily could respond, Lucas yanked Vincent back. “Are you out of your mind? Who told you Emily made me pick on Lydia?” Lucas was anxious, worried Emily might get the wrong idea.
He shouted angrily at Vincent, “Lydia always lies to us. I changed my attitude toward her after I saw her true colors. Why do you all blame Emily? You guys are out of mind.”
Maybe it was because he wanted to earn Emily’s forgiveness lately, but Lucas kept replaying everything from the past few years in his mind. He realized just how much the Bennett family had hurt Emily, and the guilt weighing on him grew much
heavier.
He thought Vincent had come along today because he cared about Emily. After all, Emily used to like Vincent so much, and he might help ease their relationship.
But Lucas never expected that Vincent would question Emily for Lydia’s sake. Hearing that, Vincent couldn’t help but frown. “Lydia is your sister. No matter what kind of grudge you have against her, you shouldn’t say things like that.
“Lucas, if you are so rude to Lydia again, I’ll never tolerate it.”
“I don’t care about that. I shouldn’t have brought you here today.” Lucas’s face flushed with anger. “Vincent, you’ll regret this one day.” Just like how he felt now, Lucas wished he could go back and punish himself for hurting Emily before.
Ever since they walked in, Emily hadn’t said a word. Before she could sit down, the two were arguing in front of her. Emily didn’t know if they were caring about her or just putting on a show, but she didn’t care about that.
It was only after they finished arguing that she looked at Vincent and asked, “So you came all the way here just to scold me for Lydia?”
Emily thought that if she didn’t have something important to discuss with Lucas, she wouldn’t have wasted her time here and would have left already. So if Vincent was just here to take Lydia’s side, he could say whatever he wanted and then get
lost.
Her expression was cold, her tone icy, and there was even a trace of undisguised disgust in her eyes. It was like needles pricking at Vincent’s heart, leaving all his words stuck in his throat.
