a stood outside Alejandro’s bedroom door, smoothing the prom down her sides for the tenth time.
nerves were on edge, thomach fluttering, and heat racing and it wasn’t even the fonction that had her acting like a undia of chaos. It was him,
She had taken time with her appearance. The black dress he picked looked like liquid midnight on her skin, flowing, seductive, with a slit that made her legs look endless.
Her makeup was perfect, her hair was styled into effortless waves. She looked good. No–the looked stunn
So when he opened the door, dressed to the nines in a tailored us that hugged his body like sin, and only gave her a half glance before saying, “We going to be late.” Nivea sa ted
That was it? No sir? No sly compliment? Not even a passing you look nice‘
She stared at him, stunned. This man had just seen her in the most breathtaking dress she had ever worn, a dress that hugged her like a second skin, a dress he had picked out, and all he said was, ‘we’re going to be late
Her nostrils flared. What the hell was she expecting?
She shouldn’t be pissed. She shouldn’t care. But the quiet annoyance burned beneath her skin.
He always had something to say. Always. Yet now, with her in this dress, with the effort she made, he brushed past her like she was one of the helpers
Ugh.
And then he had the effrontery to ask her to stay
Nivers followed behind him in silence, her heels clicking furiously against the marble floor, her expression blank but her thoughts a storm
Unbelievable.
Why was she even annoyed? She shouldn’t care what he thought. She wasn’t here to please him.
But God, she was annoyed.
Her reflection in the mirror back in her room had stunned even her. The dress was made for her, And Alejandro’s silence wasn’t just rude, it was infuriating.
And what made it worse? The fact that it mattered to her
By the time they reached the vehicle waiting outside, her nerves were buzzing with more irritation
She climbed into the car beside him in seething silence. Alejandro said nothing. But she noticed the way his eyes flicked to her thighs when she adjusted
the slit.
He noticed. He always noticed. He just wasn’t going to say anything. And somehow, that made it worse.
When they arrived at the venue, Nivera’s breath hitched.
The road was lined with barricades, and on either side, fans screamed, holding banners, flashing their phones. Paparan lights sparked like fireworks. She blinked. This was no regular function.
Well, she thought as much, but her thoughts were now confirmed.
Of course, it was now she realed what the function was about.

Chapter 65.
It was The Annual Rivera Foundation Charity Gala. One of the biggest charity events of the year–part fashion, part fundraiser, part press circus
Politicians, models, celebrities, CEOs. The entire elite.
celebrities, and
Fans screamed on either side of the carpet as the car slowed to a stop. Alejandro got out first and rounded the car
The moment he came around to open her door, the crowd’s screams escalated.
“ALEJANDRDINIVERAI”
He opened the door for her, offering a hand. The moment her fingers touched his, the cameras went wild. Screams doubled
She stepped out slowly, the black gown catching the light, camera flashes kissing every angle.
Alejandro leaned in, whispering just above her ear. “Showtime, Caberota
God. She hated how her pulse skipped,
She placed a smile on her face–the kind that said she was perfectly in love, perfectly perfect, perfectly his
They walked the red carpet with hand on her waist. Cameras shouted their names, photographers vying for their attention.
And then–Alejandra did something completely unexpected
He kissed her.
A brief, calculated kiss. Not on the cheek. On the lips, but for show,
The crowd went wild, and photographers caught every second. It was perfect.
However, it sent her heart thundering and annoyance flooding her veins. N
When he pulled away, he smirked ever so slightly, like he knew what he had done to her.
She blinked and forced herself to recover Damn him.
It was just for the press. Just for the game. Still, her lips tingled.
He pulled back and waved for her to keep going. Then, surprisingly, he stepped aside. “Go ahead. They’re here for you.”
She gave him a look. “You’re the star here.”
He gave her a small nod. “Not tonight. Tonight, they need to see you.”
Her body moved before her mind caught up Cameras shouted her name. It was surreal. For a second, it was like she never left the stage.
She held her head high. Smiled. Posed. Laughed.
It was like slipping into an old skin, only this time the skin fit better, the cameras were more. The stakes were higher. The platform was bigger.
After a few more minutes, she returned to Alejandro.
He took her hand without a word, lifted it, and kissed her knuckles. Her skin tingled again. This man was going to ruin her
“Let’s head in,” she heard him say.
inside, the venue was stunning Golden chandeliers, art installations, and a stage set for both performances and auctioneering

Chapter 65
She had barely taken it in when her eyes locked onto tan people standing by the far comer;
Her parents
They were standing by a marble column, speaking to another guest
Her stomach flipped No. Not tonight. They hadn’t seen her yet, and the intended to keep it that way.
She turned to him, eyes pleading. Her silent, desperate plea was clear: please, let’s not.
But Alejandro’s lips curved into a slow, devilish smile.
“Oh, look,” he said, placing a guiding hand on her back. “Your parents. Let’s go greet them.”
Her eyes widened. “No–Alejandro, I don’t think she started, but he was already steering her in that direction.
“Alejandro, don’t be an ass, she hissed under her breath.
“Too late.”
The closer they got, the more curses she summoned in her mind. Every word she could think of.
When they approached, her father’s face shifted and his entire posture stiffened. His lips tightened. His cold gaze dropped to Alejandro’s hand on her
back.
Aria, on the other hand, lit up like it was the best moment of her life.
But before Matthew Elton could speak, Alejandro chuckled softly. “Careful, Mr. Eton,” he said low. “There are cameras everywhere. Wouldn’t want a bad photo trending, would we?”
Matthew’s face turned white. Then red
Aria, however, smiled. Warm. Gentle Fake. “Alejandro, Nivera. It’s so lovely to see you both.”
Nivera namowed her eyes.
That was not her mother. Not the one she knew
This version of Aria was polished, pleasant, and… careful.
The real Aria would’ve thrown daggers, not smiles
But something had changed.
This was calculated.
Nivera returned her smile, but warily. Her mother was playing a game. One she hadn’t been given the rules to
She wondered if her father had already warned her mother about Alejandro, so Aria had decided not to push buttons tonight
Smart if that was it.
Before anything else could unfold, a waiter appeared. “Sir, madam. If you’ll follow me, your table is ready”
Goodness, he deserved a raise.
-Please,”
Nivera said quickly, escaping before another word was exchanged,
They were seated far away from her parents, thankfully.
Their table companions were older couples. Refined and elegant, but warm and engaging. Nivera didn’t need to keep her guard up, and so she relaxed

and listened to their conversations.
Until Alejandro leaned toward her.
“Is this about me making you speak to your parents? is that why you’re quiet?”
She turned to him with a fake sweet smile. “I’d be shocked if you didn’t force me to meet them. I’m not angry because of that.”
“So you are mad,” he said, grinning
“I didn’t say that.”
“You said you’re not mad about your parents. So now I’m dying to know what are you mad about?”
Nivera rolled her eyes over how tone–deaf he was “You’re smart, Alejandro, High IQ and all Figure it out”
-What do I get in
tin return ift figure it out?”
“A woman who won’t be out to plot your death!”
“I’m so scared,” He chuckled, leaning back.
