Ever since Claudia stood up to Donovan for him, he’d secretly delighted in her unwavering loyalty. If this was what it meant to be spoiled, he was enjoying every moment.

He realized he was the lucky one.

A rose as beautiful as Claudia was sure to attract attention from others.

But it didn’t matter if other men admired her. The important thing was, she only had eyes for him. She never wavered, not even for a second.

None of the Romeros had ever seen Sterling looking so pleased with himself. A few people tried to sneak a glance at him, but they were too scared of getting caught, so they all just ended up with these odd, twisted expressions.

After she’d soothed Sterling, Claudia’s gaze fell on the group of youngsters who were all watching her with sparkling eyes.

She smiled at Sterling. “They both spoke up for you today, and this young man helped me deliver a message.”

She nodded at the straight–bang girl and the boy who had relayed her message.

Sterling glanced at them. “Have your parents get in touch with me.”

The two of them instantly lit up and nodded enthusiastically, shooting grateful looks at Claudia.

Their families—standing nearby–could hardly believe their luck.

Who would’ve thought those two kids–who only came to have fun–would end up doing something so big?

They’d sent gifts and tried everything to get in Sterling’s good graces before, and nothing ever worked. Who knew it’d be these kids who got the job done?

Both families were overjoyed, already planning to reward the kids with extra pocket money.

A lot more pocket money.

Claudia gave a small, knowing smile.

She wanted the Romeros to see that even behind closed doors, it paid to stand by Sterling’s side

Hailey had always been pampered, and her health wasn’t great to begin with, so she might never fully recover.

No one felt sorry for them. People were just glad it hadn’t happened to them.

It really showed how much everyone disliked the pair.

Out in the garden, Claudia was just about to share the good news with Sterling when she immediately noticed a probing gaze on her.

She snapped the stem of the flower in her hand and turned toward the man standing a few yards away.

“Do you know me?”

Even the most oblivious person would have noticed after being stared at for that long.

She didn’t expect him to actually answer, but Frederick just chuckled quietly.

He met her gaze calmly, not looking away.

He nodded. “I’ve seen you before.”

Claudia was truly surprised by his answer.

She was sure she didn’t know Frederick.

Besides, Fiona and Waylon had always lived in Sundale City, and she’d never visited. When could he have seen her?

Maybe he just thought she looked familiar?

She didn’t think too much of it. After all, who besides Sterling would ever get so attached to her at first sight?
