Chapter 304 The Future Mrs Romero
Donovan didn’t want to look but soon noticed something off.
Alert, he asked, “Where’s Claudia?”
Sterling gave a small laugh. “She said she went to grab me a gift.”

They had just finished making out behind the corner. He’d meant to bring her over to say hi to his grandpa before heading home, but Claudia suddenly seemed to remember something, pushed him to go ahead without her, and ran off who knows where.
There wasn’t any danger at home, so he just let her do her thing.
Donovan’s face stiffened. When Claudia was around, it annoyed him. But not seeing her? That was even worse–he was worried she’d stir up trouble again. He needed to know where she was.
But he knew Sterling’s answer would be: “She’s just being playful. Probably wandering around somewhere.”
Wandering around, huh?
Donovan’s heart tightened as he asked cautiously, “What kind of gift needs her to go get it herself?”
Don’t think I don’t know—every birthday gift those two give me is lazy and soulless.
Sure, they are expensive, but still meaningless.
Catching Sterling’s look that clearly saw through him, Donovan cleared his throat awkwardly and said sternly, “I just don’t want the staff to slack off and leave her doing it alone.”
Sterling chuckled. “You don’t have to worry about that, Grandpa. She’s got the staff wrapped around her finger.”
Donovan was left fuming, glaring at him before stomping off with his cane,
The moment he was out of Sterling’s sight, he waved Nelson over. “Go find Claudia. Keep an
eye on her.”
Nelson looked confused, but Donovan didn’t bother explaining.
I just don’t want any more surprises tonight.

Luckily, maybe because she sensed his frustration, Claudia, his future granddaughter–in–law, soon appeared.
Seeing her walk in wearing an elegant gown and casually carrying a cello half her height, Donovan froze.
So she really did go get something?
Sterling was the first to walk up and take the cello off her back. “Why didn’t you let someone carry it for you?”
Claudia shook her head. “It’s fine. It’s not heavy. I was just scared they’d bump it into something.”
Then she turned to Donovan with a bright grin. “Mr. Donovan, I heard you really missed me?”
After all, he did send someone to look for her.
Donovan’s eyes
flickered. “Nevermind. Glad to see you’re fine.”
Claudia looked touched. “Earlier you said you wanted someone else to be your granddaughter- in–law. I thought you didn’t like me. Guess I misunderstood, huh?”
Donovan quickly defended himself. “When did I ever say that?”
“You didn’t say it with words,” she teased. “Your face said it.”
Donovan’s face stiffened. “Nonsense. Don’t go slandering me, young lady.”
“Really? So I’m the only one you’ve recognized, the one you actually want as Sterling’s fiancée?”
“Of course,” he said flatly, though his tone said otherwise.
Sterling smirked.
“Mr. Romero…” a soft voice called from the side. It was Kamila, following her parents to say goodbye, her face pale and downcast.
“Oh, Mr. Donovan, someone’s here for you. We’ll get out of your way,” Claudia said quickly, grabbing Sterling’s hand as they left.
Donovan felt like he’d been set up again.

Being caught by the Lloyds after flipping sides so many times–it was embarrassing.

Still, he only sighed. He’d never truly planned to let Kamila marry in. No matter how good she was, with Winnie in the picture, Sterling was never going to end up with a Lloyd girl.
But that Claudia…
He let out another sigh. “Come visit the Romero Manor again sometime–with your parents.”
Kamila pressed her lips together and forced a small smile. “Sure, Mr. Romero. Please take care of yourself.”
