Shattered Then Healed By His Love (by Haley Blanton) novel Chapter 155

Chapter 155 No Regrets

The position was intensely intimate. Natalie swallowed hard, saying nothing.

“Why aren’t you speaking?” Marcus frowned. “You don’t regret it, do you? I remember you said you wouldn’t.”

In truth, the main reason she had gotten drunk and slept with him was that Jackson had provoked her. But she didn’t regret it.

“I don’t regret it,” she said, her reply short and to the point.

Hearing this, he let out a low, rough laugh. “But your expression says otherwise.”

“I really don’t. You’re overthinking it.” Natalie braced her hands against his chest, trying to push him away.

“Then prove it to me,” he said, his tone cool as he captured one of her wrists.

Natalie was confused. “Prove it? How?

He leaned in, his voice a low whisper in her ear. “You take the lead this time, and I’ll believe you.”

A faint blush instantly spread across Natalie’s face, making it as tempting as a ripe apple. The sight caused an involuntary reaction in his body.

“I…” Seeing her hesitate, Marcus finally let her go. He got up and headed for the bathroom. “As for what happened yesterday,” he said over his shoulder, “we’ll settle that later.”

Watching him go, her heart sank. Settle that later? Did he want her to define their relationship? But she wasn’t even divorced yet. What kind of status could she possibly give him? And this was Marcus–Jackson’s uncle. The full weight of what she had done last night finally hit her. Getting involved with Marcus meant her life was destined to be anything but peaceful.

Natalie quickly changed, gathered her things, and left. Marcus, still in the bathroom, had no idea she was gone.

After a cold shower, the heat in his body finally subsided. When he opened the bathroom door, the room was empty. Natalie was gone, and so were all her things.

The man let out a low, rough laugh. She thinks she can run, now that I’ve set my sights on her?

When their eyes met, Atlas’s gaze darted around nervously. Seeing this, Natalie immediately knew something was up. Sothere’s something going on here?

Atlas swallowed hard, his nervousness plain to see. “No reason! I just haven’t seen her in a while, so I was just wondering.”

Natalie nodded slowly, a thoughtful look on her face. “Just wondering…”

Meeting her gaze again, Atlas quickly looked away.

Just then, a patient walked in, interrupting their conversation. “Doctor, my leg is bothering me. Can you take a look?”

“Of course, I’ll take a look.” Atlas quickly came around the counter and headed for the door.

Her eyes remained on him, and seeing his flustered state, she found it strangely endearing. This was a development she hadn’t expected. They always say that rivals are destined to meet, but maybe there was some hope for them after all.

Around noon, Natalie got a call from Marcus. But he wasn’t calling her primary number; he was calling the secondary one. This meant he wasn’t looking for her. He was looking for “Harley.”
