Sold To the Grizzly Don (Alcee and Bruno) novel Chapter 120

Chapter 120

She pinned a lot of her hopes and dreams on you.Alcee commented quietly.

Is this not what mother’s do? They live vicariously through their children. I watch many of the mothers in my hometown want their children to succeed and be the best at what they do. They push them hard to study, force them to dress a certain way, instill manners and behaviors which the world deems acceptable all for them to be better.

I would like to think I teach my son to be a good human being so he can live a better life but not because I pin my own dreams on him.

are your dreams for your son, Alcee?Raniero asked as he rifled through the bar cart.

What are

She wanted to question why this man was pouring a drink before it was even lunchtime but then remembered it was likely late afternoon where he was from, and his mother did cry an entire night. She looked at Bastiano who was watching Raniero curiously. It wasn’t only her finding the drinking in the morning odd.

I want my son to grow up, healthy and strong minded. Who he becomes and what he does with his life, will be his choices.

And if he decided to drop out of school at thirteen or fourteen?

She tensed at the question, I would need to ask why but I would not permit him to leave school until he graduated high school. The world is hard without a high school diploma. What he chooses to do after he has his high school diploma is his choice.

Because you dream of him being successful

But not for me, for him.

But what if it makes him happy? If school were making him miserable, why would you push him?

What is your game here?she snapped.

I’m not playing a game, Alcee. I’m simply stating a fact. Parents possess preconceived notions of what is best for their children based on their own desires and wants. Rarely does it matter what a child wants when it comes to certain situations. Schooling, the way a child conduct themselves, the way they respond emotionally, or their hobbies and activities are all policed by loving parents under the guise of wanting what is best.

You think children should be allowed to free range like chickens?

No. I’m merely pointing out my mother deserves some slack,he shot a meaningful glance at Torg. None of this was directed at you, Alcee. I’m sure you are an incredible mother with a wonderful son, like my mother. Torq and Brunella give my mother a tough time because she is overzealous in her love and worries about my future. I’ve simply never been provided the opportunity to give my brother an actual example of a

mother’s love before.

Alcee snickered, you’re protecting your mama. I get that. I hope Antero someday is so enthusiastic to love his mama.

Would you want to live with your son and his partner?Bastiano griped. The reason I haven’t fucking slept is because she is taking Genevra’s bedroom.

Alcer shrugged, my motherinlaw is living with us and frankly, if we move into a bigger house as I requested from Torq, I’d be thrilled to have Brunella and Cicciu there. They are good for Antero. They ma

make me feel safe. They’re a great buffer when I forget how to speak Torq.

Speak Torq?Raniero snickered. I imagine it’s hard to figure out what grunt means what.He held up his glass where he’d dumped some

ne clear liquor, squeezed lime, and shook it around, Salut. Here’s to having my mother in my new home while I’m trying to be quiet, so she doesn’t hear me having sex for the next fifty years.

She won’t live fifty years. Thirty at most, Tito laughed at him. My new motherinlaw is a dream. She told me how beautiful our babies are going to be and already offered to babysit whenever I want to take her precious Amal on dates and weekend getaways.

I’m sure Amal was thrilled.

You didn’t speak to her today?Tito frowned at her. She is wearing my ring, Alcee. She did not call you to brag?

pocket. Oh, I’m lying.

No. In fact, I haven’t heard from her or Susana at all today. It’s odd, to be honest. She pulled

pulled her phone from her back pe She messaged me a few minutes ago. She looked at Tito, no mention of a ring, though.

What did she say?Tito questioned.

She said my brother reached out to her father to ask him to intervene in my refusal to meet with my mother.

You are refusing to meet with your mother?Raniero questioned. Interesting choice. Is it fear or hate?

Neither. It is selfrespect. I owe them nothing. They threw me out. There is no more need to meet with her than I would a stranger off the street. She eyed Raniero, you’re the shit disturber of the group, aren’t you? You like getting under everyone’s skin and making them uncomfortable.

He grinned at her while Bastiano griped.

He once s

started an argument between my parents which lasted two fucking weeks.

Over what?Alcee asked Bastiano..

Bread. Fucking bread. He managed to get my father to say store bought white bread that was softer than my mother’s homemade bread. Took her a full year before she let him eat a slice of her bread again.

No!she giggled. Raniero, that’s not nice.

*I’m a Lozano by blood. I’m not supposed to be nice.
