She's back (Morgan and Dante) novel Chapter 11

Chapter 11 - 11

Morgan's POV

"You know if this persists, you will have to go see a doctor."

"Are you sick mummy?"

"No, I'm not!" I was saying for the umpteenth time. "I'm not sick Cole, okay?" I eyed my father. "Now off you go with Molly. Come on."

After he had gone out of earshot, I turned to my father. "What?!"

"Just because I told you how I've been feeling lately, doesn't mean that you have to talk about it," I said out of frustration. "You are making the kids start to think that I'm sick."

"You are."

"I am not, I'm just tired."

"And how sure are you about that Morgan? What are you? A doctor?"

I rolled my eyes picking up my bag to head for the office. "I'm fine dad, I'll be fine. Trust me."

He made as if to say something, but decided against it. "Fine, I'll take your word for it." I smiled, kissed his cheek, and headed out for the office.

The work I had been doing throughout the week was what was normally a month's work and today was to be the completion of it all. I hadn't been able to get up to three hours of sleep last night, all thanks to the huge pile that had decided not to reduce.

"Come in," I said to whoever knocked on the door. My secretary walked in. More files, more work!!!

"These are the documents on the important investor that you told me to put together." I took a deep breath, trying to control myself, and smiled at her.

"Thank you, Nora," I replied, extending my hands to take the documents from her: my vision blurred, and the room seemed to be moving. I blinked, and everything was back to normal. Perhaps I was even beginning to hallucinate.

I smiled at Nora, dismissed her, and continued working. All was fine, until lunchtime. I stretched myself and decided to get lunch. I stood up from my seat, and my office began to spin with such speed and force that my eyes couldn't focus on anything. I tried to grab the edge of my table but had trouble differentiating the real image from the fake one. Eventually, I latched onto one of the images. It was the fake one and I fell, hitting my rib on the edge of the table.

I remained on the floor till the spinning stopped before I could get up. My dad was right. I needed to go to the hospital and find out if this was just stress, or something else.

Slowly getting up from the floor, fully aware of the pain in my ribs, I took my car keys, told Nora that I'd be out for some time, and left for the hospital. I happened to find the hospital that I heard was one of the best in the area. I had also heard some of the staff at the company saying that the hospital was even going international soon. So I just drove to it and parked my car.
