When Ms. Janice returned to inspect their bunks, she noticed that Marina and Daisy had switched places. She reprimanded them both, not only forcing them to switch back but also assigning each of them another forty squats. Rachel and Marina, meeting him for the first time, stammered a nervous, “Mr. Bennett Thompson.”

Yvonne hadn’t expected to see Bennett here. Her heart began to pound, but she forced a calm smile. “Well, if it isn’t Officer Thompson. We meet again.”

Bennett’s demeanor was distant with everyone, including Yvonne, giving him an unapproachable air. Thomas, on the other hand, was warm and friendly.
