Anna and the legal team handled the situation at Westside High. The evidence against the principal was irrefutable; there was no escaping prison time. They also had solid proof that Jordon had been bullying students and running an extortion racket.
Aaron’s punch had resulted in a minor concussion, which was classified as a minor injury and not a criminal offense. Since Jordon had also hit Aaron, it was considered mutual combat. Furthermore, the classroom security footage clearly showed that Jordon had been the one to provoke the fight. As they were both minors, the most severe consequence would be paying for medical expenses. But the lawyers argued that Aaron had also been injured and insisted on a medical evaluation, making it unclear who would end up paying whom.
With such a major scandal unfolding, officials from the education bureau arrived and announced Jordon’s expulsion. The principal’s sister sobbed, begging the officials not to expel her son, even offering to drop any claims for compensation.
Jordon was stunned. He never imagined Aaron had such powerful connections—powerful enough to get his own uncle arrested. Seeing his mother’s tear-streaked face, he panicked and promised the officials he would change his ways.
Anna’s expression remained cool. “The matter of compensation is not for you to decide. Furthermore, you both owe Marguerite and Aaron an apology.”
They knew their contrition would be a factor in the officials’ decision, so they agreed to apologize.
But when Anna contacted Marguerite, she said she was too busy studying to listen to them. She told them to just record a video apology and post it in the main Westside High group chat for all the students to see.
Jordon and his mother were left speechless. She was ruthless.
With the matter more or less settled, Anna returned to the office to report to Theobald.
He nodded. “Thank you for your hard work.”
Anna was taken aback. It was the first time she had ever heard him say something like that. He had always been so cold, both inside and out.
“It was nothing,” she said. “That principal was despicable. We also found evidence of the animal abuse. The school’s security cameras caught him on video. His excuse was that managing Westside High was so stressful that he snapped.”
Theobald stared. Anna was still plotting her coup.
His eyelid twitched. “As soon as things calm down, I’m transferring you to a branch office.” He stood up. “I’m going to pick up Maggie.”
Just then, his phone buzzed with a message from Marguerite.
[You don’t have to pick me up tonight. George is giving me a ride home.]
Theobald’s brow furrowed. He sat back down in his chair, a swirl of conflicting emotions rising within him.
Was Mr. Spencer finally making his move? Theobald didn't believe for a second that Marguerite had asked him for the ride. She hated inconveniencing outsiders.
