The handsome man looked a little better today, but not by much. The dark circles under his eyes were prominent.
"It's fine. I'm just making some porridge. It doesn't require much use of my hand. Would you like some?" His voice was also a bit hoarse. Today he was wearing a short-sleeved white button-down, still looking as refined and elegant as ever.
Marguerite glanced at his right forearm. Fresh blood had seeped through the bandage. She frowned. "Yes, please. But I really think you should hire a caregiver for now. At least until Louis gets back from his vacation, you should have someone make you breakfast."
"There's no need. The butler can help me with anything I need." George used his left hand to ladle a bowl of porridge and handed it to Marguerite.
The butler nodded vigorously. "Yes, I will assist Sir." Today, even a hopeless romantic like the butler had to admit defeat. The man was making porridge even with his arm in that condition. He conceded.
The savory scallop porridge was steaming and fragrant. Marguerite’s appetite was instantly piqued. Her eyes curved into a smile as she looked at George. "Alright, then. But make sure you get some sleep during the day. Your dark circles are giving pandas a run for their money."
After breakfast, Theobald arrived. They first went to KANYO Hospital to pick up Aaron. This time, the school transfer process went smoothly. As they were leaving the principal's office, the lunch bell rang, and students began pouring out.
Many of them recognized the trio and ran over to talk. Someone had recorded Marguerite slapping Jordon the day before and posted it in the Westside High group chat. The whole school was buzzing about it again. No one had expected that she was really Aaron’s sister, let alone that she was such a badass. Jordon had posted an apology video in the group chat that afternoon, and the whole school had cheered. This Marguerite was awesome.
One girl looked at Marguerite, her eyes shining. "I must restrain myself, I must restrain myself… oh, to hell with it, Marguerite, I love you!"
Marguerite laughed. The girl seized the opportunity to shove a carton of milk into her hands. "Here, for you!"
Marguerite opened it and took a sip, her eyes crinkling. "Thanks, I was just getting thirsty."
The girl was ecstatic. "Ahhh! Everyone, remember to come to my wedding with Marguerite tomorrow!"
Another boy with rainbow-streaked bangs chimed in. "I bought some spicy wings today, but the guy gave me mild ones. I guess he didn't get the hot memo!"
"Let's go, we still have to get to Pinecrest High," Theobald urged, uncomfortable being surrounded by so many colorful heads.
Aaron lowered his gaze and followed Theobald to the car. Even in the car, he kept looking out the window, but there was still no sign of Yellow. He took out his phone and found Yellow's WhatsApp.
He typed: [You didn't come to school today?]
Yellow, who saw the message, was hiding in a corner, watching Theobald’s Bentley slowly drive away. He didn't reply. He and the boss were from different worlds now. People who weren't good enough were always left behind.
His yellow-dyed head drooped. He took one last look at the Bentley, then shoved his hands in his pockets and walked away.
