**When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live by Nora Vale Kingsley**
**Chapter 133: Help**
Emma reached out desperately for Lucien, her heart racing, but Edric, in a fit of rage, bit down harder, tearing away a chunk of precious scales from Drake.
Drake, however, remained disturbingly still, his expression blank as if he were in a deep slumber.
With a sense of urgency, he grabbed the half-empty bottle that lay beside him and downed its contents in one swift motion, the liquid glistening in the dim light.
Then, as if the weight of the world had become too much, he collapsed again, lying completely lifeless on the ground.
“Edric! Let go!” Emma shouted, her voice strained as she pried at Edric’s jaw, her fingers trembling with anxiety.
But just then, Lucien, the fiery little creature, unleashed another torrent of flames, sending scorching fire licking across Drake’s tail, blackening the tips and leaving a charred mark.
Miraculously, the fire didn’t spread beyond that point.
It was either a testament to Lucien’s incredible control or a display of his petulant nature, acting out like a spoiled child.
The flames seemed to ignite something deep within Drake, for he suddenly growled, lifting a claw and swiping blindly at the air.
In a split second, he caught Lucien mid-flight, his claws closing around the little bird.
“Lucien!” Emma cried out, her heart racing as she rushed forward, panic flooding her senses.
With a fierce tug, she yanked the red bird free, but the moment he was released, he erupted into a furious frenzy.
His feathers fluffed up, and he hurled fireballs with a speed that was almost dizzying, pelting Drake with a relentless barrage, like a storm of angry embers.
The fireballs, though small, were impossible to catch.
Every time Emma lunged forward to grab one, another would dart out of her reach, leaving her spinning in circles, frustration boiling over within her.
“Stop it! I said stop!” she yelled, her voice rising with exasperation.
Drake lay sprawled out cold, his scales scattered across the floor like shards of shattered glass, a grim reminder of the chaos that had unfolded.
His whiskers were bent at odd angles, one entirely ripped from his face, a sight that made Emma’s heart ache.
Just as she felt her nerves begin to fray, she heard footsteps approaching from behind her.
Silas had returned.
With a sense of relief washing over her, she whipped around, her eyes wide.
“Silas!” she shouted, nearly tripping over herself as she rushed toward him. “Help me catch these two right now!”
Silas halted abruptly in the doorway, his eyes widening as he surveyed the room, which resembled a chaotic battlefield.
He hurried toward Emma, his expression shifting from concern to relief as he checked her over from head to toe.
Once satisfied that she was unharmed, his calm voice broke through the chaos. “What happened here? Why is it so… lively?”
Lively? Emma nearly lost her composure.
“Lively?” she echoed incredulously. “That doesn’t even begin to describe this disaster!”
“Don’t joke right now!” she snapped, urgency lacing her words. “Catch those two before they destroy what’s left of this place!”
If Lucien and Edric continued their antics, by dawn, Aquadome and Central Planet would be at each other’s throats, and Emma could already envision the fallout.
Silas’s mouth twitched, clearly fighting back laughter at the absurdity of the situation.
He stepped over Drake’s massive tail, giving the dragon’s side a few firm stomps, checking to see if he was still breathing.
Then, with a swift motion, he pulled something from his storage band—a shimmering, peculiar bag that glinted under the light like a treasure from another realm.
In a flash, he caught Edric first, stuffing him into the bag with a decisive movement, then turned his attention to Lucien.
The fiery little bird didn’t stand a chance against Silas’s quick reflexes.
With a swift shove, he crammed Lucien into a small cage, slamming the door shut with a finality that echoed in the room, before tossing both toward the stairs without a second glance.
Only then did he turn back to the immense black dragon sprawled on the floor, his brows knitting together in concern. “What happened to him?”
