**When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live by Nora Vale Kingsley**
**Chapter 152: A Room of Vines and Fire**
“Hold it right there.”
Lucien’s piercing gaze swept over Silas like a cool breeze, sharp yet composed. “All of you, make your way to the study.”
Silas hesitated for a moment, uncertainty flickering in his eyes.
Marcus stood as still as a statue, caught in the tension.
Edric cleared his throat, breaking the silence. “Well, I guess I’ll head back to train then.”
He was careful not to argue in front of Emma, aware of the delicate dynamics at play.
But Lucien had other plans. “Edric, you’re not getting off that easily. You’re coming too.”
With a resigned sigh, Edric acquiesced, the weight of the situation settling heavily on his shoulders.
As they ascended to the third floor, they entered the training room, where Emma sat cross-legged in the center, her breath steady yet filled with an underlying strength.
The last flicker of light from the three Level 6 beast cores she held in her palms blinked out, turning to fine dust as she absorbed every last trace of their energy.
With each rank she ascended, she could feel her body devouring energy at an astonishing rate. The realization settled within her like a comforting weight.
Yet, she was not an insatiable void. When she had first achieved Rank 5, she could barely manage even one Level 6 beast core. Just yesterday, she had successfully absorbed two, and today, she had tackled three.
If she continued on this trajectory—and with an ample supply of beast cores at her disposal—reaching Rank 6 would be within her grasp before long.
Previously, her training had been a painstakingly slow process, hindered by her inability to afford beast cores. The hunt for beasts had been a solitary endeavor, each one a battle fought in the depths of the forest, saving for weeks just to gather enough for a single training session.
But that struggle was now a distant memory.
Lucien and the others had filled the storage room to the brim with resources, and Marcus had brought a veritable mountain of gifts. The abundance of beast cores would ensure her training was well-supported for quite some time.
Once her training session concluded, Emma took a refreshing shower and slipped into a soft, comfortable set of loungewear, the fabric soothing against her skin. She made her way downstairs, eager to find Silas.
He was still in Lucien’s study, deep in conversation.
Quickly, she sent him a message.
Silas: ‘Go to my room first. I’ll be there soon.’
With a flutter of excitement, Emma opened the door to his bedroom, stepping into a realm that felt almost magical.
The floor was covered in delicate, finger-length blades of soft green grass, springy and inviting beneath her feet, as if she were walking on clouds.
Tiny flowers, vibrant and colorful, dotted the landscape, while firefly-like insects flitted through the air, glowing softly as they danced in the gentle light.
Nearby, a small waterfall sparkled, feeding a clear stream lined with luminous stones that glimmered like stars. Bright little fish darted between them, their colors flashing in the light like jewels.
In the center of this enchanting valley stood a magnificent blue tree, its branches cascading low like a curtain of willows. The flowing strands formed a natural canopy that enveloped the bed, transforming it into a secluded retreat.
A gentle breeze rustled through the branches, carrying with it the refreshing scent of fresh leaves and cool water.
Emma felt her entire body relax, her mind drifting into a serene state.
