Spoiled By My Nine Beast Husbands (Emma Tibarn) novel Chapter 154

**When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live by Nora Vale Kingsley**
**Chapter 154: The Price of a Male**

Corvin’s brow furrowed with concern as he observed the frailty in Marcus’s voice. It was a sound that sent a chill down his spine, a whisper of something far more troubling than mere fatigue.

“Marcus, what’s the matter? Are you feeling unwell?” he inquired, his voice laced with worry.

Marcus shook his head slowly, as if each movement required monumental effort. “No. Just wish I were dead,” he replied, the words heavy with despair.

Corvin’s heart sank, and he froze in disbelief. “What?” he stammered, the weight of Marcus’s statement hanging in the air like a dark cloud.

He turned to Emma, his confusion palpable. “Ms. Tibarn, is he…”

“It’s fine,” Emma interjected with a weary sigh, her patience worn thin. She had grown accustomed to Marcus’s brooding nature, and as long as he maintained his composure, she would consider it a good day.

“That’s just how Marcus is. You’ll get used to it. Now, go shower and change first. I’ll whip up something delicious for you to eat,” she encouraged, trying to inject a sense of normalcy into the situation.

Corvin nodded, choosing to set aside his concerns about Marcus’s peculiar mood for the moment. He headed toward the bathroom while Emma made her way to the kitchen, her mind already racing with thoughts of what to prepare.

In the kitchen, she busied herself cooking multiple bowls of noodles. She knew all too well that males had hearty appetites; one serving would never suffice. Glancing at Corvin, who looked as if he hadn’t eaten properly in days, she felt a pang of sympathy.

As the aroma of the noodles filled the air, Corvin entered the kitchen, his eyes lighting up like a wolf spotting a feast. “Ms. Tibarn, these noodles are amazing!” he exclaimed, his mouth full yet eager to shower her with praise.

Emma settled down across from him, a smile tugging at her lips. “So, did you manage to finish packing your lab? What prompted your sudden return?”

“Not yet,” Corvin replied, momentarily putting his fork down. His expression turned serious. “Prince Lucien instructed me to come back. He mentioned you’re attending the Celestara Gala, so there’s no rush to return to Al. I can take my time packing.”

He continued, “Prince Lucien had to step out for the day—he’ll be back tonight. He wanted me to keep you company in the meantime.”

With a hopeful glint in his eye, he added, “You haven’t had a chance to explore Central Planet yet, have you? How about I take you for a walk later?”

Corvin was right; since her arrival, Emma had been engulfed in tasks, leaving little room for adventure.

“Sure,” she agreed. “Once you’re finished eating, we can head out.”

The baking ingredients she had ordered for the cake wouldn’t arrive until the afternoon, making it the perfect opportunity for a little excursion.

After they finished their meal, Corvin tidied up the kitchen before seeking her out. Emma was already dressed and prepared for their outing.

However, when Marcus heard they were leaving, he groaned dramatically, like a man sentenced to a fate worse than death, reluctantly dragging himself off the couch to follow them.

Emma blinked in surprise at his sudden movement. “Marcus, you’re coming too?”

The thought of this notoriously lazy man venturing out for shopping was almost laughable.

Marcus nodded, determination etched on his face. “I need to stay close to you, Ms. Tibarn.”
