Spoiled By My Nine Beast Husbands (Emma Tibarn) novel Chapter 203

**When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live**
**by Nora Vale Kingsley**
**Chapter 203: The Knock at Midnight**

Edric felt an undeniable tension coil in his throat as he surrendered to the moment. The restraint he had held so tightly snapped like a taut bowstring, and before he knew it, his lips found hers—slow, fervent, and possessive. It was a kiss that spoke of longing and urgency, a silent promise wrapped in the heat of the moment.

Outside their secluded bedroom, the atmosphere shifted palpably. An electric current seemed to pulse through the rest pod, heavy and charged, reminiscent of the stillness before a storm breaks. It was a force that could not be ignored.

Marcus and Corvin stood frozen in place, their instincts kicking in. This was not merely energy; it was Rank 10 pressure, raw and unfiltered, a force that could shake the very foundation of their reality.

Without a second thought, they rushed toward the door.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Corvin rapped on the door with urgency, his nerves fraying at the edges. “Emma! Did Edric wake up?” he called, his voice tinged with concern.

That power is far too potent. He’s not even attempting to rein it in. If Edric has just awakened, his energy must be in a state of flux.

Please, man… Don’t let Emma get caught in that, Corvin thought, his jaw clenched tightly, anxiety gnawing at him.

Inside, Emma, dizzy and breathless from the intensity of their kiss, heard Corvin’s voice cutting through the haze, pulling her back to reality with a jolt. Instinctively, she pushed Edric away, her heart racing.

Her palm lingered against his chest, feeling the heat radiating from his skin, the unsteady rhythm of his heartbeat echoing her own.

“I almost forgot… we’re still in the rest pod,” she murmured, the realization dawning on her.

The soundproofing here is terrible. One slip-up, and everyone outside will know exactly what’s happening.

Her cheeks flushed a deep crimson. Fantastic. Now I officially want to crawl into a hole and die.

Edric’s dark eyes, still smoldering with desire, searched hers. He brushed his thumb across her lower lip, a firm yet tender gesture that sent her pulse spiraling.

“Emma,” he said, his voice rough and low, “can we leave first thing tomorrow morning?”

He was done waiting.

Her response came quickly, almost instinctively. “Okay!”

He pressed a quick kiss to her lips, then hesitantly pulled back, wrapping the blanket around her shoulders as if to shield her from the world outside.

With a deep breath, he straightened his clothes and opened the door, bracing himself for the reactions waiting on the other side.

Corvin nearly jumped out of his skin. “You’re really awake? Wait—did you two… bond yet?”

Seriously, who just said that out loud?

Edric shut the door behind him, shooting a calm but pointed look at both men. “I just woke up—Emma’s still sleeping. We’ll talk about the bond once we’re back home tomorrow.”

Corvin nodded rapidly, eager to diffuse the tension. “Yeah, definitely. This place isn’t exactly conducive to bonding. You can crash on the couch with me tonight.”

“Sure,” Edric replied, grateful for the distraction.

Marcus remained silent until Edric settled onto the couch. Then, with a flat tone, he urged, “Hurry it up.”

Edric blinked slowly, his amusement fading.

He wasn’t in any rush to bond, but Marcus seemed to be practically vibrating with anticipation. The man acted as if he were waiting in line for a rollercoaster ride.

Choosing silence over conversation, Edric leaned back, letting the stillness envelop him. Talking to Marcus was akin to conversing with a wall—cold, hard, and utterly unyielding.
