**When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live**
**by Nora Vale Kingsley**
**Chapter 225: His Secret Lessons**

After a day spent in a sullen haze, Malrik finally concocted a scheme to lift the spirits of his beloved. However, just as he was about to execute his plan, he watched in dismay as Silas swooped in, effortlessly claiming all the glory for himself.

“Squeak!” he called softly, his little voice barely a whisper.

Emma, blissfully unaware of Malrik’s true thoughts, smiled warmly as she pressed a tender kiss against Cotton Candy’s cheek.

“Cotton Candy, you’re truly amazing. You even learned how to dance!” she exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with delight.

The simple brush of her lips against his fur sent Malrik into a euphoric spiral.

If she insists that Silas taught me, then so be it. Silas taught me, he thought, resigned.

For now, he was merely a rabbit, after all. There was no conceivable way he could have learned to dance on his own. Emma was right; he had to accept that.

Just the night before, he had commanded his men to dig into Merlin’s activities during his absence, hoping to uncover any mischief.

When the report finally landed in his hands, it felt as if the very heavens had caved in around him.

He could no longer afford to reveal his true self to Emma.

Damn Merlin!

When he finally tracked that man down, he would imprison him—make him plead for death, yet deny him that mercy. No more reckless abandon, no more deceiving others under his name.

Emma cradled Malrik in her arms as she descended the stairs, where Corvin had just finished preparing dinner.

The moment Corvin laid eyes on her, his excitement surged so high that his beastly ears sprang forth, standing tall with enthusiasm.

“Emma! I made dinner! You should eat first. I’ll head back to my room… to set things up,” he said, practically bubbling over with glee.

He had a plethora of candles and incense that needed to be lit beforehand.

Watching Corvin dart away, Emma felt a flicker of curiosity ignite within her. What could possibly be in his room?

Does he fill it with mechs?

After all, he was a genius when it came to crafting them.

Once dinner was over, Emma realized that Corvin still hadn’t returned.

She lingered in the living room for a while, but when he remained absent, she decided to check on him. After a quick shower and changing into something comfortable, she made her way to his room.

The door was slightly ajar, just enough to pique her curiosity.

With a gentle push, she nudged it open.

Inside, Corvin had already completed his preparations. He stood in his walk-in closet, trying on various outfits.

He had purchased them just two days prior—an array of styles that seemed to stretch endlessly before him.

“Which one will Emma like the most?” he pondered aloud, his brow furrowed in concentration.

The rack beside him was a chaotic mess of discarded outfits he had already tried and deemed unworthy.

Tonight was significant—it marked their first bonding experience, and he was determined to make Emma happy. He couldn’t afford for her to lose interest in him later on.

“This one?”
