Spoiled By My Nine Beast Husbands (Emma Tibarn) novel Chapter 239

**When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live by Nora Vale Kingsley 239**

**Chapter 239: The Rabbit’s Secret**

With swift efficiency, Marcus retrieved a fresh set of clothes for Emma, his movements purposeful as he assisted her in getting dressed. There was a tenderness in his touch, a silent understanding that spoke volumes of their bond. Once she was presentable, he quickly typed out a message to Edric, requesting him to bring up some food.

Emma, however, felt utterly drained, her body sprawled across the bed like a rag doll, every muscle protesting against the idea of movement. The weight of exhaustion enveloped her, making the very thought of getting up seem insurmountable.

In a moment of quiet desperation, she reached into her pocket and pulled out two leaves that Silas had gifted her earlier. Without hesitation, she consumed them, hoping for a miracle.

To her relief, the leaves began to work their magic. It wasn’t long before the oppressive fatigue that had been anchoring her down began to dissipate. Yet, in an unexpected twist, an insatiable hunger surged within her, demanding attention.

When Edric finally arrived with the food, Emma mustered the strength to sit up, splash some water on her face, and shuffle over to the table.

The meal he had prepared was a sumptuous dish of braised sea beast, a delicacy characterized by its singular thick line of spines, making it a breeze to eat.

As she took her seat, a sudden thought struck her. “Edric, is your brother alright?” she inquired, concern lacing her voice.

He nodded, his expression serious yet relieved. “He’s hurt, but it’s nothing too severe. He’s still at Cloudspire Medical Center. They’ll probably discharge him tomorrow.”

The news washed over Emma like a wave of relief. If Edric’s brother was set to leave the hospital so soon, it meant the injury wasn’t as grave as she had feared. With a soft sigh, she finally allowed herself to relax, picking up her fork with renewed vigor.

The two-pound sea beast disappeared before she knew it, her appetite insatiable as she polished off most of the sides and even a sandwich. It was a remarkable feat; she couldn’t recall the last time she had eaten so much without feeling uncomfortably full.

Once she finished, a wave of drowsiness crashed over her, pulling her back into the depths of slumber.

With a languid wave of her hand, she addressed Marcus and Edric, “You two should get some rest. I’m heading back to sleep.”

Marcus, ever the dutiful companion, responded without hesitation, “I’ll stay with Ms. Tibarn.”

Edric, sensing the bond that had just formed between Emma and Marcus, chose not to argue. “I’ll head back to my room, then. Just call if you need anything,” he said before quietly slipping out.

By the time Edric left, Emma was already lost in the realm of dreams, her body sinking into the mattress as she slept soundly, undisturbed, until noon of the third day.

When she finally stirred, the fatigue that had once weighed her down was gone, though a strange itch had settled on her scalp.

Realizing Marcus wasn’t in the room, she took the opportunity to rise and step into the shower. The warm water cascaded over her, washing away remnants of sleep, but the itch persisted, nagging at her.

Shrugging it off, she dressed and made her way downstairs, eager to greet the day.

In the living room, an unexpected sight met her eyes. A small silver-white wolf was using its paws to pin down Cotton Candy, who was clad in an adorable frilly princess dress. The sight was both amusing and alarming.

The little pink rabbit was in distress, its fur dirty and one eye swollen shut, making him look utterly pitiful.

As soon as Emma entered the room, Cotton Candy let out a couple of panicked squeaks, his voice filled with desperation.

“Ms. Tibarn, save me! Marcus is a maniac—he’s been beating me up for days!”
