**When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live by Nora Vale Kingsley**
**Chapter 276 Family Confusion**
Emma took a deep breath, her heart heavy with the weight of the memories that flooded her mind. “When I first stumbled upon him, he was a mess—his body marred with injuries, and his mental state was in shambles. I used the flower you gave me, the one that holds such powerful healing properties, to bring him back from the brink. But then, we were caught in a fierce snowstorm, and he took a blow to the head. After that, it was as if his mental consciousness shattered completely.”
Is he acting this way because of the injury to his brain? The thought nagged at her.
Suddenly, a cheerful voice broke through her contemplation. “Mommy, you’re awake!”
Remy’s tiny voice rang out, perched precariously on top of Drake’s head.
“Daddy is awake too!” he added, his excitement bubbling over as he bounced lightly on Drake’s head, the small blue fruit somehow managing to make a sound again.
Emma’s heart raced, a surge of panic coursing through her. She feared for Remy’s safety, terrified he might tumble off Drake’s head at any moment.
Drake, sensing the commotion, reached up and gently patted Remy. “Good boy, Remy. Daddy and Mommy are both here with you.”
Was it normal for Daddy to refer to Mommy in such a way? A strange feeling washed over Emma.
Remy, still adjusting to his newfound awareness, sensed something was amiss but couldn’t quite grasp what it was. “Daddy, I’m so hungry,” he declared, his voice tinged with urgency.
With a swift motion, Drake produced two Level 2 beast cores, placing them on his dragon horn for Remy to absorb the energy directly.
Emma’s eyes widened in disbelief. She leaned closer to Silas, her voice barely above a whisper, “Silas, is it really safe for Remy to absorb energy from beast cores like that?”
Silas observed the unfolding scene, searching for the right words. “For now, it doesn’t seem like there’s any problem,” he replied, his brow furrowing slightly.
“Emy, from what I can see, Drake appears stable at the moment. You need to take care of yourself first. Lucien and I will arrive at the Thalassian Palace shortly,” he reassured her.
So this is what the Thalassian Palace looks like, Emma thought, her mind racing with the implications of their surroundings.
After ending the call with Silas, she turned her attention back to Remy. He had finished absorbing the energy from the two beast cores and let out a small, satisfied burp.
“Daddy, Mommy, I’m full!” Remy exclaimed joyfully, bouncing once more on Drake’s head.
Emma’s heart skipped a beat again, a fresh wave of anxiety washing over her.
“Remy, please don’t jump around like that,” she urged, her voice laced with concern.
“Got it, Mommy!” he chirped, though he didn’t quite understand why Emma was worried. He simply knew that obeying her was the right thing to do.
“Aren’t you going back to sleep?” Drake inquired, his gaze fixed on Emma. His tail wrapped around her waist in a possessive manner. “Since you’re awake, let’s take Remy outside to play.”
Emma considered his words, glancing from Drake to Remy, who was still precariously balanced on Drake’s head.
Then, her eyes fell to the dragon tail encircling her waist, and she nodded slowly.
“Alright, let’s go outside then,” she agreed, feeling a sense of relief at the idea of venturing out. Being alone with Drake felt too risky.
“Drake, please stop calling me that,” she said, a hint of exasperation in her tone. She was significantly younger than he was, and the way he addressed her felt oddly out of place.
“Then what should I call you?” Drake asked, a look of genuine confusion crossing his face. “Should I call you Mommy like Remy does?”
Emma froze, her heart racing.
