Chapter 320 Find Out Where She Came From

Lucien’s message had come through a group chat, but Emma’s was a private message. Edric had sent that one straight to her inbox.

“I actually got word from Aria about this yesterday,” Emma confessed. “I meant to fill but with everything going on last night… it slipped.”

Edric headed the Interstellar Hunter Alliance, a network that pulled in members from every clan and region, which naturally made it a magnet for information. Lucien didn’t find it odd that he got wind of the news first.

What caught Lucien’s attention was Aurelia’s involvement. His brows drew tight. “So Aurelia knew all along,” he muttered, “and Mom still decided to keep me in the dark.”

Emma explained, “Aria said Queen Amara isn’t even sure if that female from the Suncrest Clan is really human. Only the Suncrest Clan and a handful of Central Planet leaders know. That’s why you weren’t informed. I think Queen Amara wants to be certain before she tells you.”

Lucien reached over, his finger brushing her lightcore to shut off the glow. He turned his gaze fully on her. “Emma, what’s your take on this?”

He still couldn’t tell if the Suncrest Clan’s female was truly human. But one thing he didn’t doubt for a second–his Emma was unquestionably human. The moment he laid eyes on that message, his mind raced: true or not, there was no way he could let her identity slip out like that other female’s.

But he had no clue what she was thinking. She was human–totally unlike the therian females of the Interstellar Empire, who naturally gravitated toward their own kind. Now that Emma realizes there’s another human female somewhere out there in Interstellar Empire, would she even be curious enough to meet her?

“If it turns out she’s like you, a human female… would you want to meet her?” His amber eyes held her gaze, swirling with emotions she couldn’t quite decipher, a faint tension hidden beneath the intensity.

She held his stare and slowly shook her head. “I have no intention of meeting her.” The moment the words left her lips, the tension in his jaw softened, almost imperceptibly.

She lifted a finger, tracing gently over his striking cheek as she spoke with calm certainty, “Lucien, I’m not some child. I know exactly how risky it would be if anyone found out who I really am.”

She was clear–headed and composed–there was no way she would let her identity slip.

Hearing her, the last flicker of worry in Lucien’s chest vanished, replaced with a deep swell of warmth and admiration.

My Emma–always sharp, always fully aware. He curled his hand around hers, lifting her delicate fingers to his lips for a gentle, lingering kiss. His voice rumbled low and tender. “Emma, I swear, I’ll keep you safe. No one will ever be able to hurt you while I’m with you.”

“What’s that?” he asked, watching her carefully. Seeing that faraway look made his chest tighten. She was right in front of him, yet her eyes seemed to pierce through him, reaching for somewhere far away, someplace he couldn’t follow.

Her voice was quiet, almost hesitant. “If that female really is human, I’d like you to find out where she came from, quietly, if possible.” She wanted to know whether this other female shared the same origins as her.

Lucien’s chest tightened abruptly. “You… you mean you want to know if she’s from the same place as you?” His voice trembled slightly, tension slipping through no matter how he tried to hide it.

He knew her current identity was a cover, created later by Edric. He had never asked about her true background–not for lack of curiosity, but out of fear. Fear that he might touch a painful memory she wasn’t ready to share. Fear that, like a delicate dream, she could disappear at any

moment.

And now, as he looked at her, her gaze was distant–eyes fixed on a point far beyond him, a place so out of reach that even someone as powerful as a Rank 11 like him couldn’t follow.
