**When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live by Nora Vale Kingsley**
**Chapter 351: Malrik at the Brink**
“Silas! Hurry, grab the flowers!” Emma’s voice rang out, a mixture of urgency and desperation.
Silas sprang into action, his heart racing as he dashed over to the table. With trembling hands, he swiftly retrieved the precious flower, its vibrant petals glistening with dew. Without hesitation, he thrust it into Malrik’s mouth, praying it would work.
Next, he gathered a handful of delicate petals, crushing them gently between his fingers before pressing them onto the gaping wound on Malrik’s chest. The moment the petals made contact with his skin, a miraculous change began. The relentless flow of blood slowed, as if the petals were weaving a spell of healing, and the torn flesh began to mend before their very eyes.
Lucien, watching intently, turned to Marcus, relief washing over his features. “The injury is sealed now. We need to get Malrik to a room where he can rest and recover.”
Marcus nodded resolutely, his expression a mix of determination and concern. He scooped Malrik into his arms, moving with urgency as he rushed down the stairs toward the guest room.
Before long, the doctor from Aurelia arrived, her presence commanding and professional. She wasted no time, immediately approaching the unconscious Malrik to assess his condition.
After a thorough examination, she straightened up, her expression serious yet somewhat relieved. “Mr. Malrik’s condition is no longer critical,” she informed them. “However, he has overexerted himself. He was already injured and then pushed himself to protect the Beast God’s fruit. Both his body and mind are severely drained. He will require plenty of rest to recover fully.”
A collective sigh of relief echoed in the room, a sound of hope amidst the tension.
Marcus, still visibly anxious, pressed on, “But what about his mental state? There’s nothing wrong there, right?”
The doctor hesitated, weighing her words carefully. “From what I can observe, his mental strength appears intact. However, given the… circumstances you mentioned, the situation is quite complex. Since he remains unconscious, I cannot perform any tests related to his mental state. We will only know the full extent once he awakens.”
“I understand…” Marcus murmured, his gaze lingering on Malrik’s still form. He reached out, giving Malrik a gentle nudge. “Wake up!”
Lucien’s eyelid flickered, and he quickly grasped Marcus’s arm, concern etched on his face. “Marcus, the doctor just said he’s too weak to wake up right now. He’ll likely be out for a day or two. We’ll discuss everything once he regains consciousness. Before he collapsed, he seemed clear-headed. I doubt he’ll mistake you for his daddy again.”
Marcus shot a glance at Malrik, his expression hardening. “He had better not.”
He was done with these ridiculous fruits, and he made a mental note to dispose of every last one in the kitchen later.
Emma, having listened carefully to the doctor’s recommendations, positioned herself by the bedside, her heart heavy as she observed Malrik’s pale face. “You all can go about your business,” she said softly to the others. “I’ll stay here and keep him company for a while.”
Marcus, however, immediately settled into a chair beside her. “I’m free. I’ll stay here with you.”
Edric joined them, taking a seat as well. “Me too,” he added, his tone unwavering.
Drake, ever the loyal companion, settled down at Emma’s feet. “I’m here with you too.”
