**When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live by Nora Vale Kingsley**
**Chapter 359: Shadows of Greed**
A flicker of pride ignited in his gaze, a glimmer that spoke volumes. “Ms. Tibarn, feeling a bit apprehensive now, are we? Release us and return our treasures.” His voice held a note of challenge, as if daring her to respond.
He hesitated, letting the tension build before continuing. “We are not unreasonable people. Just keep one-tenth for Mr. Malrik.”
“Yes!” came the chorus of agreement from the others, their voices laced with desperation.
“And once we return to our clan, we promise not to meddle with Mr. Malrik again. However, he must relinquish his position as the young chief. From this moment on, he will have no ties with us.”
The thought of losing a Rank 11 powerhouse was unsettling for them, yet the fear of incurring Emma’s wrath—especially with her connections to several Rank 11 partners—loomed even larger in their minds.
Emma, however, was known for her uncompromising nature; any future dealings with her seemed utterly impossible.
As she listened, a chilling smile crept across her face, one that sent shivers down the spines of the elders.
“Who said I was letting you go?” Her voice was calm, yet it carried an undercurrent of menace.
The elders’ faces became masks of shock, their expressions frozen in disbelief.
Emma turned her attention to her companions, her voice steady and commanding. “Destroy the hall.”
“Huh?” Marcus and the others exchanged bewildered glances, their confusion palpable.
“Smash it,” Emma reiterated, her tone patient yet insistent. “Make it as chaotic as you can. Then take photographs and post them online. Claim that beasts from the Enchanter Clan stormed into my manor, attempted to abduct my partner, and wreaked havoc on my home and my most cherished treasures.”
She beamed at the stupefied elders, clearly relishing their discomfort.
“Oh, and don’t forget to mention that they devoured the Beast God’s fruit, which Malrik nearly died retrieving for me from Beast God Mountain. I’m just a weak sixth-tier female. How could I possibly stop them? Given the state of my home… asking the Enchanter Clan to compensate me for the Beast God’s fruit and the damage they caused seems entirely reasonable, doesn’t it?”
“Now, no one can brand me a thief anymore, right?”
She turned back to the elder, her smile radiant and deceptively sweet. “Thank you for the inspiration. I truly wouldn’t have thought of this on my own.”
Initially, my goal had been modest—merely to seek some compensation.
But now? It was evident they would be paying for an entire Beast God’s fruit.
I considered myself quite magnanimous; the hall lay in ruins, yet all I sought in return was one measly fruit.
“You… you…” The elder stammered, his face contorted in rage. Despicable… shameless!
He trembled, struggling to catch his breath, the intensity of his anger rendering him nearly speechless.
The others looked at Emma as if she were a demon risen from the deepest pits of hell.
