**When She Opened the Door to the Life She Was Afraid to Live by Nora Vale Kingsley 377**
**Chapter 377: Plans and Traps**
“Ensure that every woman aboard this vessel is protected. Not a single Chitinid must survive.”
Marcus’s response was a firm nod, his expression resolute.
“I will take care of the two Rank 11 ones personally.”
Every insect core aboard the ship was under his command, a possession he fiercely guarded.
They were his, and no one could wrest them from his grasp.
He envisioned bringing them back, presenting them to Emma—a gift that would signify his dedication and strength.
As soon as Marcus concluded his orders, he disappeared from the command cabin, leaving behind a charged atmosphere of anticipation and urgency.
Inside the formidable Chitinid warship, Aaron’s gaze fell upon Lily, who lay unconscious, her body battered and bruised from the earlier conflict.
Turning to Dahlia, who stood vigil beside him, he voiced his frustration.
“Your Majesty, we’ve just received word that Lucien has arrived. He’s likely to confront us shortly. Why not seize this opportunity to eliminate him immediately? Why must we rely on this feeble female to handle him?”
Aaron’s mind raced with calculations; Lucien had come alone this time, and if they could lure him into the ship, they could overpower him.
With Dahlia’s strength alongside his own, combined with the energy emanating from the four Level 11 insect cores, Lucien would pose no challenge.
“Fool.”
Dahlia shot Aaron a disdainful glance, her voice dripping with contempt. “What purpose would it serve to kill Lucien? The Interstellar Empire boasts several other Rank 11 powerhouses. We have Marcus and Drake in the Four Domains. Slaying Lucien alone changes nothing. If the other Rank 11 therian remain, our victory will always elude us.”
Her gaze shifted to Lily, still sprawled on the floor, unconscious and vulnerable. A predatory gleam ignited in her eyes.
“I intend to claim Lucien as my own. I will use him to deceive all the Rank 11 powerhouses of the Interstellar Empire into coming to me. Once I absorb the energy of those Rank II therian, I will ascend to Rank 12. At that point, our race will dominate the entire interstellar realm.”
Once Dahlia had laid out her ambition, she feigned severe injury, her demeanor shifting to one of vulnerability.
“Lucien is on his way. It’s time to execute the plan. Leave a few Rank 10 Chitinids here. Find a way to escape on your own.”
To ensure their ruse was convincing, they needed to create a façade of struggle.
By leaving behind a handful of lower-ranking Chitinids, they would convince the therian that they had fought valiantly for the Empire’s women.
It would also explain why the Rank 11s might retreat if the situation turned dire.
“Yes!”
Aaron acknowledged her command, determination etched on his face as he exited the ship’s dungeon.
But just as he stepped through the door, a blinding flash of white light erupted before him.
His three eyes widened in horror as a pale blue liquid gushed from a gash on his neck.
