Spoiled By My Nine Beast Husbands (Emma Tibarn) novel Chapter 412

Calum lifted his eyes and locked them onto Marcus, chest rising and falling sharply, like he was suppressing a primordial beast fighting to break out of its cage.

Marcus didn’t flinch at all.

The air was thick with killing intent.

Emma stood behind the barbecue station, watching the scene unfold, palms damp with cold

sweat.

One second

Two seconds

Several long seconds ticked by.

Calum stared straight at Marcus and suddenly spoke, If you think my cuts are that bad, then you do it.

He shoved the fury back down.

This is Ms. Tibarn’s manor. I can’t punch Marcus in front of her. She already fears me.

If I beat Marcus in front of her, wouldn’t she be even more afraid?

Worse, she might get angry at me because of this infuriating man.

Not worth it. Not worth it at all.

Calum pushed the sharp knife toward Marcus, his voice steady. There was not a single trace of anger. You slice. I’ll handle something else.”

He actually held it in.

Marcus looked at the knife Calum had offered and raised a brow.

A moment ago, he had clearly felt Calum’s killing intent. He didn’t expect him to swallow it

down.

Since when did this guy develop such a good temper?

Or was I not pushing hard enough?

Marcus pointed toward the grill.

You can’t cut? Fine. At least you can grill, right? Go take over the meat.”

Calum didn’t speak. He stood, walked to the grill, took up the tongs, and began awkwardly flipping the sizzling steaks.

His movements were stiff, clumsy even, but he was unwaveringly serious.

Emma watched Calum fumble with the grill, her eyelid twitching.

She murmured to Silas, I think this test should end here for today. Calum really can’t grill. This is way too much for him.

She wasn’t pitying Calum, she was terrified he’d burn down her manor.

Emma strode over quickly.

She spoke to Calum, who was focused on the grill.

Calum, the spots burnt by the fire earlier haven’t healed yet. Go rest for a bit. Marcus and Drake can handle the grilling.”

Calum hadn’t expected Emma to come over and worry about him. He thought she would turn a blind

eye and let Marcus bully him.

After all, Marcus was her mate. And he was just the newly arrived match.

It’s fine, Ms. Tibarn. My injuries healed.”

He didn’t want Emma to feel torn.

If she cares about me, then I should care for her feelings too.

Ms. Tibarn, I’m alright. I want to try grilling again.” He lifted a halfdone skewer for her to see.

Look, Ms. Tibarn, this is already better than before. Let me learn it once more.”

Calum knew why Marcus targeted him. It was not just because of that fight he lost years ago. Marcus was helping Emma test him.

In the Empire, any male matched later would always be tested, bullied, even, by the huntress

mate.

Compared to how other mates treated new matches, Marcus’s insults were nothing.

Marcus glanced at the skewer in Calum’s hand and pulled Emma’s hand gently.

Ms. Tibarn, the Marshal said he wants to try again. Let him. I’m here. I won’t let anything happen.”

Emma looked at Marcus, the corner of her lips twitching.

Hey man, do you even know he’s a walking kitchen hazard?

Yeah, she saw it clearly now.

These two were basically the perfect dysfunctional pair. One loved throwing punches, the other practically volunteered to be the punching bag.

If they want to keep this up, I am not going to interfere.

Let them torture each other.

Just don’t burn down my manor.

Fine,

go ahead. But watch the flames.

Seriously. Do not burn my manor.

Don’t worry, Ms. Tibarn. I’ll be careful,Calum replied earnestly.

Marcus added, Ms. Tibarn, I’ll keep an eye on him.”
