The wyrm answered with another deafening roar, its abyssal flame cutting through the air like a tidal wave of black fire. Damon’s crimson spears tore into the inferno, detonating one after another in bursts of blood and smoke, the clash lighting up the ruined plaza like a storm of scarlet meteors.
Each explosion rocked the ground, but the wyrm did not falter. It plowed straight through, its massive jaws opening wide, ready to swallow him whole.
Damon vanished. [Blink]. He reappeared above its head, his palm already glowing as he conjured a massive [Blood Lance] infused with ice, lightning, and shadow. He hurled it down with the weight of a falling star.
The wyrm screeched as the lance pierced into the crack between its scales, molten ichor spraying outward like lava. For a moment, its head jerked back, the violet fire dimming in its throat.
Damon grinned. Sure, the big guy was a higher level than him, just like last time. He couldn’t see any detail about it at all, but now he had something that he did not have last time.
"How do you like my blood now?" Damon launched himself back as the wyrm madly thrashed about, rage burning its eyes.
It shook the entire plaza, shattered wagons flying apart like matchsticks as its abyssal flames surged brighter, wild and unstable. Chunks of obsidian cobblestone cracked and split under its convulsions, glowing veins of violet ichor searing through the fissures as if the city itself was bleeding with it.
Damon landed lightly on a broken rooftop. "Let’s give the guy some time for the poison to work." He knew that his poison was probably not enough to give a one-shot result or even make a significant impact on the fight, but what if he kept stacking it over and over?
Also, he was in no hurry to end this fight just yet. He had lots of time. His gaze darted to a tree where a figure was silently hiding and watching. His shadow clone was going around sniffing different spots while he was fighting, and now he had the location of four familiar figures.
Damon’s first visit was to none other than the black-robed guy who was probably the beast tamer for all of these wyrms. "Dude, just how many of these lizards do you have? Don’t you think that it’s a bit unfair for others?"
The black-robed man’s bloodshot eyes widened when he saw Damon, and his words only made everything that much worse.
The guy immediately produced a spear of black ichor, and the weapon thrummed with abyssal energy, pulsing like it had been carved straight from the Gate itself. He didn’t even bother answering Damon’s taunt, his face twisted in rage as he hurled the spear with all the desperation of a cornered beast.
Damon tilted his head. The spear tore through the space where he had stood a moment ago, pulverizing the cobblestones and sending shards of black stone flying, but Damon had already blinked behind him. His voice was a whisper in the man’s ear.
"Wrong move."
His clawed hand shot forward, not for the man’s throat, but for his chest, his bloodline extraction already activated. The beast tamer screamed as crimson tendrils burrowed past his defenses, siphoning essence straight from his core.
"I somehow missed you the last time around, but I won’t make the same mistake again."
