Chapter30
“Don’t think about anything else now, let’s go eat. In a few hours, the problem will be solved easily.”
Paulette naturally thought that was comforting, but for now, it was enough. She promised with a full mouth and told Jeremiah to go to bed early before hanging up the phone.
Cheer up, Paulette went out for a meal and then came back home.
Maxine and Elnora weren’t around, but Monty was sitting by the window on the first floor, drinking tea.
“Dad.”
Paulette greeted and asked, “Where are Maxine and Grandma?”
“Maxine said you didn’t sleep well last night. Your grandma insisted on going to church to pray for you with a cross. They went together and probably won’t be back for a while.”
Paulette was surprised, she didn’t sleep until very late last night, but…how did Maxine know?
A warm feeling in her heart, she didn’t know what to say.
Monty smiled and asked, “Where did Paula go this morning?”
“I… went out for a walk.”
“Nelson asked why you didn’t tell him.”
I asked her, just wanted to get to the bottom of it.

Paulette didn’t want to explain anything, anyway, even if she did, he wouldn’t believe it.

Pursing her lips, Paulette skipped the question and said, “I’m going
pstairs first, Monty. I’ll come back down when Grandma and Grandpa re back.”
It was almost afternoon when a few people who had been out finally eturned home.
Patricia had a wound on her back, she walked all day and sweated a lot. She had to go to the nearest hospital to change the dressing after changing her clothes.
When Paulette came out of the room, she happened to run into him as he was about to go downstairs.
Patricia’s eyes twinkled slightly, she turned around as if she hadn’t seen him and greeted, “Nelson, are you okay?”
Nelson responded, and then a tall figure appeared in sight.
With their eyes meeting, Paulette thought she was going to get a scolding gain, but the man didn’t say anything. He just frowned and asked, “Why didn’t you say anything before going out this morning?”
I told Maxine.”
Nelson hesitated to speak, then just gave her a deep look, and went downstairs with Patricia.
This really caught Paulette by surprise.
Yesterday, I slapped Patricia, and Nelson didn’t even scold her?
Did Patricia still not file a complaint?
