Farewell My Stepfather novel Chapter 74

Chapter 74

When she got home, she didn’t see Jeremiah’s car. She walked in and heard the clattering noise in the kitchen.

Paulette was startled, grabbed a baseball bat from the cabinet by the door, and tiptoed over, saying, “You’re really going all out to break into someone’s house, huh?”

The baseball bat was still held high in his hand.

Paulette and the middle–aged woman in the kitchen locked eyes, both widening them in surprise.

After a while, Larissa finally came to her senses and sighed, “Did I scare you? It’s me, Paula, Larissa!”

The scene was really awkward, Paulette put down the baseball bat and apologized, “Sorry, Larissa… I didn’t know you were coming today. I thought there was a burglar in the house. Are you okay?”

“No problem.”

Larissa took the stick from her hand.

He grinned and said, “I was supposed to come a couple of days ago, but ended up staying at my relatives‘ place for two days. Come on, let me

see…”

“Wow, Paula is getting more and more beautiful. When you and Jeremiah’s baby is born, it will definitely be the cutest baby.”

Paulette’s breath caught, and she said, “Baby… baby?”

Larissa looked at her stomach and said with a smile, “Yeah, aren’t you pregnant?”

Paulette was shocked by the “pregnancy” and kept waving her hands, saying, “No, no, I’m not pregnant, Larissa, you misunderstood!”

She and Jeremiah were still in a polite relationship, where did she go to get pregnant?

Even if we get married, it’s not gonna happen that fast, you know.

Larissa was stunned, “No

pregnant, huh?”

She heard Valeria say that Paulette and Jeremiah were getting married, then got a call from Jeremiah asking her to come to Crireton to take care of Paulette. She immediately assumed that Paulette was pregnant.

I didn’t expect, it turned out to be a misunderstanding.

“It’s my fault.

Larissa chuckled in regret, “I should have asked clearly, don’t be mad, Paula.”

Paulette secretly breathed a sigh of relief, “It’s okay, I’m just happy you’re here, why would I be mad.”

The misunderstanding cleared up, and after not seeing each other for a long time, they sat on the sofa holding hands and chatted for a while. They talked about many things from their childhood, but somehow it always circled back to Paulette and Jeremiah.

“Oh, I used to think you two were a good match, but back then you were both young and didn’t have any romantic feelings, so I didn’t dare to say anything.”
