At least it smoothed over his recent resentment.
By now it was completely dark outside. Paulette walked into the hotel lobby from the entrance, but there was no one around. She looked around and didn’t see Nelson anywhere.
Go to the front desk.
“Hello, is Mr. Chapman staying here?”
The front desk smiled and said, “Ms. Davenport? Mr. Chapman asked me
to tell you to go straight up to see him in room 888.”
Paulette: ”
Why do we have to go upstairs again?
She thought Nelson would wait for her in the lobby.
Paulette frowned, said thanks, and walked towards the elevator.
The five–star hotel, even the corridor was filled with a faint fragrance. She followed the directions and found room 888. Standing at the door, she took a deep breath and rang the doorbell.
No one opened for half a day, so Paulette had to press it again.

Paulette suddenly widened her eyes and quickly turned her back.
“Nelson, can’t you put on some clothes before answering the door?”

The man frowned and glanced at her, his voice deep and solemn, “What are you shy about with me? I’m not naked. Come in.”
Paulette pursed her lips and waited for him to leave before she plucked up the courage to go in.
After taking a shower, Nelson felt a lot calmer.
He went to the bathroom to get a towel to dry his hair. When he came out, he tied the bathrobe belt tighter. “Tell me, how did you come up with the idea of running all the way to Crireton with me on your back?”
Of course I wanted to leave him.
Paulette looked down at her fingers and didn’t say it directly, “I had to try to be independent. If I stayed in Fromond, I couldn’t help but… enjoy some of the care from you, Maxine, and Monty.”
Nelson stopped what he was doing, staring at her with unblinking eyes.
“Just because of this?”
“Um.”
Paulette forced a smile, “And aren’t you getting married? You should focus on your fiancee and future family, no need to worry about me.
What she said was true, little did she know that in Nelson’s ears, that was
Paulette continued, “I told you, I don’t like you anymore. When I don’t like someone, I won’t waste my time on them. Whether you get married or who you marry, it has nothing to do with me! Do you understand that?”
