Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance novel Chapter 1590

Mia stashed every last one of her son’s red envelopes into her own purse. Henry glanced at his now-empty pockets, face scrunched in indignation. “Hey! You took them all—I don’t have a single one left,” he complained, his grumpy tone unmistakable.

Mia, half-amused, finally relented and stuffed a few empty envelopes back into his pockets. Only then did Henry’s scowl fade, his mood restored.

Back at the Cedillo family home, the magic of New Year’s red envelopes was so strong, Mia didn’t even bother with the fireworks anymore. She flopped down cross-legged on the floor, chubby little hands happily rifling through her haul. “One, two, three… twenty-five, twenty-six, twenty-seven… forty-eight, forty-nine, fifty,” she counted, her voice growing lazier with each number, syllables trailing off by the end.

Henry plopped down next to her, a fistful of envelopes in his hand. He watched his mom count for a moment, then decided to give it a try himself. The first ten numbers came out just fine, but soon his counting took a wild turn: “Twenty… one hundred… eight hundred! It’s all mine!”

Andre sat close by, watching with the softest smile. Every little thing his wife did—her gentle voice, her tiny hands flipping through the bills—absolutely charmed him.

Meanwhile, Annie was fresh out of the hospital and headed straight to the postpartum recovery center.

Conner, proud dad that he was, loved nothing more than showing off his baby girl during video calls with his brothers—especially Asher. Today, he had grand plans to take his daughter downstairs for some sunshine. Maja rolled her eyes, but Annie wasn’t having it. She picked up a pillow and lobbed it right at Conner. “If you want sunshine, wrap yourself in a blanket and get out there. The baby stays here!”

“Annie, why are you so worked up?” Conner protested. “If you keep stressing out, you’ll end up with postpartum depression. You need to relax.”

Annie got out of bed, scooped up her daughter, and pointed out the window. “Go on—stand outside for two hours. Don’t come back until you’ve had enough. It’s freezing out there, and you want to take a newborn in the cold? Go warm yourself up instead.”

Conner, cowed by his wife’s glare, didn’t dare argue. He bundled himself up and trudged outside, standing stiffly in the backyard as the winter sun barely warmed his shoulders.

One of the bodyguards hovered nearby. “Boss, maybe you stay here and let me go check on the baby?”

Conner shot him a look. “You think you get to go upstairs and I don’t? Stand behind me and zip it!”
