The Alpha Train (Christina and Sebastian) novel Chapter 213

“Good morning,” he says. He looks well rested too.

“How did you sleep?” Christian asks him.

“Better, thank you. I think your idea of us talking at night is a good one,” he says.

When did he have time to talk to Shane? He was busy holding me while I cried and then apparently putting me to bed when I fell asleep. How the hell is he keeping up with all of this?

“Hey, Alpha, are you going to run patrols with us again today?” a warrior, Reuben, asks him.

“You ran patrols?” Shane asks him before I can.

“I did, and if you never have, we should talk about that,” he says before turning to Reuben.

“I’m not sure I’ll have time today, but when I do, I will be again,” Christian says to him.

He talked to Shane, ran patrols, and held me while I cried? All after arriving, taking down our Beta and several warriors, meeting with me and Shane, officially taking over as Alpha of the pack, re–writing patrol schedules, and working with Shane in my father’s old office? Did he clone himself?

He tilts his head at me. “What’s that look?”

“How did you do all of that in one day?”

“It was a busy day; I’ll give you that. But it’s better to put the work in on the front end and then let everything run smoothly afterward,” he says. Then he turns to the warriors and claps his hands.

“Alright everyone, let’s begin. I haven’t had a chance to talk to Alpha Shane yet about how you practice in warrior training, but one thing I do know is that your pack attacks first and asks questions later. That’s rarely a good strategy. You always want to know who you’re attacking before you attack them, so things like what happened to your other warriors don’t happen again.”

I look around seeing that everyone is watching Christian with rapt attention. One day. One flipping day and he’s earned the pack’s respect.

“Your previous Gamma, Braden, has been promoted to Beta. Your previous Beta, Dorian has been demoted, although he doesn’t yet know that. What I intend to do this week, along with Alpha Shane and Beta Braden, is test your skills. I need a baseline of your abilities before we can begin making you into the powerful fighters I intend to turn you into,” he says.

“No offense, Alpha, but if you haven’t seen us fight, how do you know that we aren’t already powerful fighters?” another warrior, Judith, asks.

“Because I took down your previous Beta and five of your warriors in less than five minutes without breaking a sweat,” he replies.

The warriors all murmur their agreement.

“Pair up, I’m going to have Alpha Shane and Beta Braden assessing your skills today and tomorrow we’ll start learning some new techniques,” he says. He turns to talk to Braden and Shane, as I turn to find a sparring partner. Lately, I’ve been sparring with Shane, so I’m not sure who will be willing to pair with me today.
