Chapter 42

“I love that idea. I know it was a lot to take in all at once and I don’t want to get lost,” she says.

“Me either. I can’t be late for class because I couldn’t find it,” I whisper conspiratorially. It’s not a large campus, and I’m pretty sure I won’t get lost, but I like the feeling that she and I are working together for the

same cause.

“Do you want to sit beside me while we hear what Alpha James has to say?” I ask her.

“The assistants all sit up in the front with the instructors. That’s what Christina told me anyway.”

“Okay, afterwards we can go for a walk then?”

“I’d love that.”

I watch her walk up to the front, feeling Noah nudge me from my right.

“She’s a cutie,” he murmurs.

“She’s too nice for you,” I say, feeling an unexpected wave of jealousy.

He snorts. “Charlotte’s pretty hot,” he says as we watch the others begin to file in.

“I’m holding out for Christina,” Liam says.

I’m not the only one who laughs at that.

“What?” he frowns, looking at us.

Chapter 42

“No way she lets YOU touch her. She’s an Alpha, not some warrior who is going to fall at your feet, moron.” Ezra says.

“Oh, you think you have a better chance with her?” Liam asks.

“I have enough respect for her that I won’t be trying to get her into my bed. And I think she’ll respect that a whole lot more than the pitiful way you tried to hit on her. All of us saw that you only became interested once you realized she was an Alpha. You didn’t even bother remembering her name. Although how you didn’t smell the Alpha on her when you walked on the train is beyond me,” Ezra says.

“Let’s start with the class schedules and instructors. Classes run seven days a week. Monday through Thursday, you will have four classes a day. Friday through Sunday, you will have three. On those days, I suggest you use your free time to do homework or get with any of the instructors on areas where you are struggling. You have ten weeks to pass or fail this Academy. That doesn’t leave a lot of time for you to fall behind.”
