“Maybe we can have him come up for a couple of days. It would probably help both of you. We could figure out sev- eral times over the semester when you two could get together. It doesn’t mean you could get away without working, but…” Alpha James begins.
“We would work around it, Laura. That’s a wonderful idea, James,” Sylvie says.
The rest of dinner is a bit awkward with Liam trying to find things to talk about with the others, and hoping that Mia will jump in. She watches him, frowning frequently, but she doesn’t participate.
When dinner is over, Alpha James begins by giving out coins. I’m surprised when I get one from him for giving a ‘Damn good lecture and meaningful points for consideration‘ in the Communication class. I’m even more surprised when I get one from Liam for helping him and I’m not at all surprised when I get one for Sebastian for a great mas- sage and an even better night’s sleep.
When it’s my turn, I give Liam his first token. “For humbling yourself and asking the right questions.” I give several others, including lots to the assistants, except for Emma who still hasn’t earned any except from Logan.
When we’re done, Sebastian suggests that we meet in the classroom again. “I want to make sure I answered any ques- tions you had about your classes before I passed out on you last night and then, I’d like to see if I can win another to- ken,” he says, grinning like the Cheshire Cat.

“See you in fifteen,” he says.
As soon as he walks away, Mia is there.
“You want to tell me what the fuck that was with Liam?”

I get to the classroom, setting up the table and turning on the heat. Then I dim the lights and wait. And wait.
It’s not like Christina to be late and I’ve just about decided to go look for her to see what’s going on when she rushes in through the locker room entrance.
