Ian stared at her in disbelief. His injured body couldn’t hold up any longer, and he fell to one knee on the floor.
Chloe had only known Julian for just a brief while.
When both he and Julian were in danger, she risked everything to shield Julian, leaving Ian exposed and on his own.
Afterward, Julian was the only one she cared about, as if Ian didn’t even exist.
Ian knew she couldn’t forgive him yet.
But he never expected Chloe would be so cold as to not even care whether he lived or died.
Quentin walked in. “Sir Julian, everything’s been taken care of.”
Julian ordered Quentin, “Take Mr. Hamilton to the hospital.”
Quentin hurried over to help Ian up.
Ian gritted his teeth through the pain, his face dark as he warned Julian, “You want to fish for trouble, do it yourself. Just don’t drag Chloe into this–she’s not on your side.”
Julian’s narrow eyes lowered a fraction as his gaze rested on Ian’s wound.
He spoke lazily, “I can’t say if Chloe and I are on the same side, but one thing’s clear–she’s definitely not standing with you now, Mr. Hamilton.”
Julian’s words carried a hidden meaning.
Ian’s expression was thunderous, almost frightening. He seized Chloe by the wrist and said, “Come with me.”
Just then, a video call from Jan’s father, Shane Hamilton, popped up on his phone.
Chloe’s face was icy as she wrenched her hand free from lan’s grip. Ian staggered, his legs giving out as he collapsed right there on the floor.
Julian just stared, his face giving nothing away.
Chloe said nothing, her expression cold and tight.
lan struggled to answer the video call from his father
Shane immediately noticed something was off Tan, where are you? Why do you look so pale?”
Ian held up his phone and panned it around the room, letting Shane see juttan and Chloe

Before Ian could even get his words out, his grip slipped and the phone crashed to the floor. He fumbled, holding his wound painfully as he tried to pick it up.
Shane’s voice thundered from the phone, “lan, are you hurt?”
“Did that Chloe do this to you?” Shane demanded.
Ian glanced at Chloe and said, “I couldn’t just stand by and let anything happen to her.”
Shane’s furious threats about going after the Irvine family, mixed with Miranda’s anxious questions, echoed from the phone. Without missing a beat, Ian ended the call.
Chloe and Julian exchanged a look.
Ian’s actions made it clear he was deliberately throwing Chloe and Julian under the bus, making sure his father believed his injuries were all because of them.
Knowing how the men in the Hamilton family are, there was no way they’d just let this slide.
Tomorrow, Edward Hamilton and Ian’s maternal grandfather were bound to come to Rowe Estate themselves, ready to demand answers.
Plus, Shane would definitely blame Chloe for Ian getting hurt–and odds were he’d find a way to hassle her parents too.
Just thinking about those two old men from the Hamilton family gave Chloe a headache.
If she could, she’d rather get hurt herself than drag the Hamiltons into this mess.
But since things had already gotten this far, she figured it was better to keep things simple and not stir up any
more trouble.
She really didn’t want to owe anyone favors, and getting caught up in more drama was the last thing she needed, Chloe thought.
After a brief hesitation, Chloe stepped forward and took the initiative to help lan to his feet.
fan’s dark eyes locked onto Chloe, searching her face for any sign of sympathy or regret. Despite the pain twisting his brow, he couldn’t help but wonder: ‘Does she really care, or is she just being polite?”

He turned to Miranda. “Let’s go find the Irvine family right now–I want to see what kind of parenting makes a daughter turn out like that!”
Mia piped up in a small voice, “Chloe was at the Rowe Estate, but she never asked lan to save her. He just went and did it himself. Dad, stop stirring up trouble for no reason!”
Mia shot a guilty glance at fan, then ducked behind Miranda, trying to make herself as small as possible.
He snapped, “My son got hurt this bad all because of Chloe Chloethe Irvine family doesn’t come up with an answer, I’m not letting them off that easy!”
Chloe stood outside the hospital room, her brows furrowing as she overheard Shane raging inside

Last night, Ian had deliberately set things up so the Hamiltons would know he got hurt at the Rowe Estate because of her–this fallout was exactly what he wanted.
He was counting on his father to pressure the Irvine family, all to back her into a corner. ‘Classic Hamilton scheme, Chloe thought, sarcasm dripping from every word.
Chloe waited until everyone had left the room before finally stepping inside.
Ian was half–reclining in the hospital bed, his face dark and stormy as he watched Chloe walk in.
When Chloe reached Ian’s bedside, he gave her a stern look. “Chloe, do you even realize how dangerous things got last night?”
Chloe pressed her lips together, saying nothing.
Ian’s voice grew sharper, almost accusing. “Chloe, do you really know Julian Rowe? Do you even understand what kind of guy he was back then?”
Anger flashed in Ian’s tired eyes.
He fixed his gaze on Chloe. “Chloe, you’ve got parents and a kid brother depending on you. Stop risking your life like it’s nothing!”
Ian snapped, his frustration boiling over. “What if I hadn’t made it in time? What would’ve happened if you’d gotten hurt?”
He blurted out, “Do you have any idea how terrified I was for you last night?”
Chloe stood there by Ian’s bedside, calm and silent, waiting for him to finish whatever he had to say.
Chloe met Ian’s gaze, her voice steady: “Ian, you were the one who told me–no one cares if I live or die, except my own blood. Not even you.”
She continued, “Back then, I held a fruit knife to myself and threatened to end it just to stop you from seeing Andrea. You couldn’t care less whether I lived or died. So why are you acting all concerned now?”
