When lan was practically half–carried inside by Patrick and Mia, Shane and Miranda were locked in a shouting match.

Edward sat on the couch, his expression grim, not saying a word.

The floor was strewn with pieces of a broken fruit plate and scattered fruit.

The overwhelming tension in the air made Ian freeze instinctively.

When Miranda and Shane saw Ian come back to the Old Hamilton Manor, wounded and silent, they instantly stopped arguing.

Thomas Quinn rushed forward to support him. “Young master, please slow down.”

Miranda sounded worried. “You’re hurt so badly. Why didn’t you stay at the hospital and rest? What are you doing here?”

Ian’s gaze, dark and heavy, fell on his father and Edward, his eyes flickering with unspoken questions.

Patrick quietly whispered something in Miranda’s ear. Instantly, Miranda’s expression shifted–panic flashed across her face as she snapped at Thomas Quinn, “Go get the family doctor, now.”

Ian was helped onto the couch.

The family doctor rushed over and checked Ian’s injury, sounding urgent: “He’s still bleeding—we need to get him to the hospital, and fast.”

Shane immediately called for a car, telling someone, “Hurry up and get Ian to the hospital!”

Ian just sat there on the couch with a grim expression, completely still.

Shane jabbed a finger at Ian, voice sharp with anger. “You got hurt this bad just for that woman, and you won’t even stay in the hospital where you belong? What are you trying to do?”

Ian gritted his teeth against the pain and shot back, “Dad, you and Edward went to the Irvine family behind my back and made a mess without even asking me first. What exactly are you trying to do?”

Just hearing the name of the Irvine family made Shane’s face darken instantly, and the anger he’d barely

managed to suppress flared up all over again.

He jabbed a finger at fan, pride dripping from his words. “The Hamilton family’s been top of the food chain for a hundred years. Our money leaves the eight powerhouses in the dust.”

Shane turned to lan, voice sharp. I’m the chairman of Hamilton Group, and I’m your father. When they insult me, it’s like they’re slapping you in the face too!”

Shane snapped, “You’ve put up with all this for that woman, and you’ve got the gall to show up here and ask what we’re trying to do?

Ian shot back, his face set in stone. “If you hadn’t gone barging into the Irvine family’s business, their slap would never have landed on the Hamiltons.”

That comeback left Shane speechless, his face darkening with humiliation and rage.

Shane swung his hand up, ready to hit, but Thomas Quinn and Patrick leapt in on either side, stopping him just in time.

In the scuffle, Shane’s hand accidentally caught Patrick right on the chin.

Patrick cried out-“Ow!“–clutching his face and crouching down on the floor.

Mia rushed over to shield Patrick. “Dad, how could you hit Patrick too?”

Patrick leaned into Mia, clutching his jaw and groaning, “Mia, I think I just dislocated my jaw!”

Mia gently reached out, her fingers trembling a little as she checked his chin, worry flashing in her eyes.

Patrick sneaked a quick pinch at Mia’s waist, trying to remind her, and only then did Mia snap back to the situation.

Mia blurted out, “Patrick, I’ll get you to the hospital right away!”

Thomas Quinn quickly tugged Shane back, urgently whispering, “Sir, you really can’t hit Patrick. If he gets hurt, his mom will go ballistic.”

When Shane saw Patrick still squatting there, clutching his face and not getting up for ages, he finally let it go and backed down.

Miranda came over and helped Patrick to his feet herself, and only then did he actually stand up.

Miranda took the opportunity to say, “Mia, hurry and get your brother back to the sick ward. And while you’re at it, make sure Patrick gets to the clinic for a checkup.”

Before Miranda could finish, Edward spoke up in a commanding voice that brooked no disagreement. “Ian, your engagement to Miss Goodwin is already arranged. You’d better start getting yourself ready.”

Ian replied without hesitation, his voice unwavering. “Grandpa, Chloe is my wife–always has been, always will be. I’m going to remarry her, no matter what.”

Shane jabbed a finger at Mia, but his words were all for Ian. “See what you’ve done? Ever since you married that woman, she’s gotten all of you twisted. Even your own sister dares to stand up to her elders now!”

He rose slowly, leaning on his cane; his gaze was cloudy, but there was a dangerous glint in his eyes.

Edward’s voice dropped to a cold warning as he looked straight at lan. “Your father was humiliated at the Irvine family, and I’m not about to let that go. If you want us to stop messing with the Irvines, then you’re going to marry Miss Goodwin–no excuses.”

Ian stood his ground, his voice unwavering. “My marriage is my own decision, and I will never get engaged to Margaret”

Miranda let out a weary sigh.

Whether it was Edward or her husband Shane, their way of doing things was always about power plays–never

about emotions, just results. They never cared about anyone’s feelings.

The way those two old men kept stirring the pot just made things with the Irvines even worse–like pouring gasoline on a fire.

If lan really wanted to remarry Chloe, it was like chasing the impossible.

The tension in the room was so thick you could cut it with a knife.

Patrick jumped in at just the right moment, flashing a diplomatic smile. “Uncle Shane, come on—we’re all family, aren’t we? No point in blowing a fuse over this. Let’s just talk things through.”

He steadied lan and joked half–seriously, “Ian’s a mess right now, and you’re in no mood to swing at him anyway. If he sticks around, you’ll just get more worked up. How about I take him back to the hospital and give you a break, Uncle Shane?”

Patrick shot Mia a knowing look.

Mia hurriedly grabbed her bag, stumbling over her words a little. “Uh, I’ll get the car.”

Just as Patrick was helping Ian out, Thomas Quinn rushed over and reported to Edward, “Mr. and Mrs.

Goodwin heard Ian got hurt risking himself for Chloe. They tried the hospital but didn’t find him there–so now they’ve shown up at the Old Hamilton Manor.”

Shane, still fuming, snapped at Thomas Quinn, “Ian was injured at Rowe Estate–how did the Goodwins even get wind of that?”

Ian and Patrick shot each other a quick, knowing look.
